@Rose L I'm about halfway through Little Women now, I can't believe I went a quarter century without reading this book yet! It's definitely going to be an annual read for me for sure.
A map of Caldoria : Rough Draft
This is a map of a region in my world called Caldoria. Caldoria is a region in the Kingdom of Saveron, wuich itself is located on the supercontinent Akiōn. Caldoria is roughly the size of Washington state here in the U.S.A. and boasts a population of 200,000 farmers, fisherman, woodspeople, craftspeople, etc. While Saveron is most closely defined as a feudalism kingdom, the lives of even the peasant class are those of relative comfort. This map is just a rough draft to get an idea of; where cities in Caldoria are, each under the rule of a noble house, other smaller towns and farms, lakes, rivers, and roads. Caldoria is a coastal region with landmass on the east and south sides. The noble house that rules over all of Caldoria and works directly with the king is House Karloff, residing in the capital city called Frostmarch. House Karloff is a family of mountain dwarves from the far off continent Dressora. Dwarves are a rare sighting in Saveron as "The Great Mingling" only occured 400 years before this point in the story. Saveron, and much of Akiōn, relies on the use of messenger Storks as the main form of long distance communication (as Akiōn has been slow to adopt the newly discovered magics of the world), and House Karloff is famed for being the house to revolutionize and perfect the breeding and usage of messenger Storks, their house sigil being a grey stork on a green and black shield. The project within Caldoria I'm working on now is a city just south of the capital called Lilygard of House Wheaton. Lilygard is located in a fertile valley, so they produce much of the grain and vegetables for the region. That was a bit long winded, but if anyone has any suggestions on tweaks or any questions about Caldoria I am all ears! (apologies it's just on line paper, kind of sloppy but I have reems upon reems of paper I need to put to use)

@Ceaseless Watcher I have done just a bit of research into services and products like that! Just because of my living situation now (I buy rundown homes and renovate them for profit) I don't have wifi or my computer, so for the moment I'm doing everything analog haha. Do you have any in particular you'd recommend?

@James Bruski That's a very clever way of denoting periods of time. I picture it being used the way we use B.C. and A.C. for years.

The Blight on Akiōn - Some 300 years after magic was introduced to my world a small mage's college called The Feather was established on the border of the two largest empires on the continent Akiōn: Saveron and Valia. Some say it was haphazard magical practices, or a mistake made by human magic students, or even a curse placed on them by this god or that... a portal no bigger than a doorway opened up on the ground floor of the college. The portal was constructed of a magic undecipherable by the world's top wizards and scholars. As the portal grew more and more unstable it started to produce horrific monsters, some of magical origin and some just purely alien. Masses of tentacles with no discernable beginning or end would roll through the portal, horrific nightmares that resembled wolves followed, elemental spirits, and many other monsters came forth from the portal. The area was quickly militarized by both Saveron and Valia and it became a massive safety concern. Fast forward 50 years and now the portal is surrounded by a truly massive sprawling labyrinth. Outside of which there are school buildings where magic users study the portal and learn to contain it, barracks where troops from both nations are sent to fight back the beasts that the portal summons, and as of late small farms have begun to crop up around the area to support the efforts against The Blight. - There's much more I could write, but that's a general breakdown of what happened and is currently going on in my world.
Is there any music you listen to that inspires your writing?
Sometimes I'll listen to Epic Orchestral stuff if I'm writing something dramatic like a fight or a battle.

I have a bunch of "writing playlists" I play depending on what I'm writing; Dungeons and Dragons ambient music for general writing, old traditional eastern european music when I'm feeling more whimsical and a playlist of 90s rap which helps me write battles and personal accounts for some reason.
Anybody read Brandon Sanderson?
I'm currently reading The Stormlight Archive series.
