Do people actually know what a pivot foot is and if is it used today in the NBA?

When I played it was a step and a half for a layup. Now with the Eurostep it’s 2 and a half. Referees seem to be letting calls go because of the product of the NBA instead of maintaining a level of skill amongst players!!
