This guy built his house for $200. Zero mortgage. 🏡
Sage found his materials right on the property — cob, wood, all free stuff. Only paid for screws, glue, and silicone. And honestly the house looks really nice! $200 is a rare situation, but it proves the $400K/30-year-mortgage thing isn't the only option. I can relate to his tiny living situation too. It really connects you back to the outside world by not being cooped up indoors for everything. What's your target budget for your build? Drop it below, and let me know what you think of this build. 👇
Very cool! It's amazing what we can create if we go outside the established mentality of how society builds and spends today!🥰Our budget is around 60K €. We are collecting as much as we see and can of windows, doors. As N P says: One man's trash is another man's treasure!
Florida Cob Cottage - photos
Here are some photos to preview for the case study on the Florida Cob Cottage build we finished a few years back. This one was an interesting build, and a lot of good lessons were learned for huge improvements. Florida is a tough place to build cob, not because of the weather, but because the soil has very little amount of clay content. I'll get into more specifics in the video case study. Please leave your questions here!

Building a COB house in 2 phases.
Hello to everyone, my husband, our daughter, and I have a nice piece of land where we are starting our project to self-build a COB house. We'd like to ask you all about your experience connecting a new section of a COB house to an existing one. We want an 8-meter x 14-meter house, but we can't build it all in one go, so we have designed the floor plan with two rectangles, one attached to the other. Our doubt arises when connecting the walls of the first construction to the new one ..... any ideas? Thank you all for this great community 😉
Oh! Great. We plan to build the full foundation; connecting the two foundations doesn't look like an easy task. But then, building the walls in phases. We will keep in mind those anchors in phase 1 😉Thank you so much!
Earthen Floors and walls
For inside the house on an earthen floor, how do you attach the walls to the floor? Do i need to embed wood or concrete into the floor for 2x4 interior walls?
@Alex Sumerall Great to know. It will be amazing to have some videos on the earthen floor!

Fantastic!!! We are thinking of building two walls at the entrance of our land to put the big door. So we are interested in knowing well how to protect them properly.
