Welcome to Carline Dad Codes!
Hey everyone, I’m Chris, and I’m excited to launch Carline Dad Codes! This is the place for anyone who wants to become a pro web developer in their spare time – no pricey degrees or bootcamps required. Whether you’re waiting in the school carline (like me), sneaking in code after the kids are asleep, or just looking to level up your skills, you’re in the right spot.A bit about me: I’m 37, a husband, dad to four awesome kids, and a professional web developer since 2017. I landed my first dev job before finishing my Bachelor’s in Multimedia Design & Development, but here’s the kicker – I used to work as a Financial Aid Advisor at DeVry University. I saw firsthand how crazy expensive college is and how it’s often overkill for breaking into web development. Companies today care about skills, not degrees. That’s why I started this community: to teach you the real-world skills to land a dev job, without the massive price tag. Think of it as focused, hands-on training to get you job-ready, not some fluffy generalized theory. Here's what Carline Dad Codes is all about: - Hands-on learning: Expect practical, project-based courses in the Skool Classroom to build real websites and apps. - Live coding sessions: I love jumping on Zoom to work through problems together, screen sharing and all, so you can see how it’s done. - Mentorship & community: Whether you’re a grade-schooler with big coding dreams, a high school grad, or switching careers, you’ll find support from beginners and seasoned coders sharing their nuggets of wisdom. This isn’t a stuffy classroom – it’s a crew of coders sharpening our skills and having some fun along the way. My style? Laid-back but blunt. We’ll keep it real, focused, and get stuff done.Let’s Get Started! Jump into the Skool Classroom to start your self-paced learning journey with courses designed to take you from zero to job-ready. Then, drop a comment below and introduce yourself – tell us who you are, what you’re coding (or want to code), and what brought you here. Can’t wait to meet you and start building this community together!Happy coding,

@Chris Kendig Great goal! I hope you achieve it.
šŸž Debugging Challenge: Text Change....DENIED! 🫠
Help! I implemented a new button that changes the text back and forth from the original text to new text each time you click the button. The problem is that it doesn't work! Nothing happens! https://codepen.io/ckendig-carlinedadcodes/pen/ByzOJKb Take a look at the code, and let me know in the comments what I did wrong. šŸ‘‡

@Chris Kendig When we learned JavaScript at the beginning—meaning when I learned the basics and before I built any single project with JavaScript—I learned that JavaScript is case-sensitive.

@Tonia Fleming Yes, it’s case-sensitive. Learning JavaScript is great and enjoyable, and it opens many doors; it’s used in the back end and has excellent frameworks. I recently learned Chart.js for data visualization, and I know friends who learned Node.js for the back end. But the most important thing is to learn the basics first—JavaScript—then you can learn any framework built on it.
