What business should I start? What to sell?
Hi all. I had some disappointing results recently with selling lead gen services. It's hard work to get new clients and the appointments for them, and then the clients let you down with zero-to-low conversions due to a whole bunch of reasons on their end, and don't reorder. Is there something else besides lead gen services? Selling your own solution? Any ideas would be great. Thanks.

Your frustration is common: the lead part is the easy-to-measure bit, but clients lose the sale when nobody follows up fast or properly. One option is to stay in lead gen but own the step after the lead arrives, like instant response, follow-up and booking reminders, so you control the result that makes clients reorder. Another is to pick a niche where one booked appointment is worth a lot (and the owner closes themselves), because that's where reorders happen. Since consultants tend to struggle to close what they're handed, a niche with an owner-operator who closes, like home services or clinics, might be an easier test than consulting.
Previous Month Results (Sep 2026 )
Last month’s cold email results - Emails sent: 1,047 (only to people that have 1 to 80 active fb ads in usa) - Total replies: 29 (2.77%) - Positive replies: 10 - Meetings booked: 1 ( not closed because this is my first meeting ) Other replies — 19 total 7 out-of-office · 3 wrong person · 3 do not contact · 6 not interested What happened to the other 9 positive replies? - 5 stopped replying after receiving 3 ad concepts. - 2 stopped replying after receiving the full version of one concept. - 2 stopped replying during further conversation, including questions about who I am and what I offer. What new email copy to send ( someone saying personalization is dead send generic emails , so confused what to test next jay can you help ) the cta of upper one is i found 3 ad concepts i think could lower your cpa want me to send them over ?

Thanks for sharing real numbers, that's rare. A 2.77% reply rate with 10 positives is a solid base, and 1,047 emails is a small enough sample that I'd keep testing before changing everything. Looking at where the 9 positives went cold, the drop-off seems to come after the 3 concepts. A smaller next step might help: send one concept only, or a 60-second Loom of the best one, so they have less to review. For the two who asked who you are, a one-line proof point in the reply (a result for a similar brand) could answer that before they ask. And I agree with your point that a brand running 40+ ads may not want concept ideas, so a CTA about their ad performance (creative fatigue, a specific drop in their ads) might fit that segment better.
