Getting started with Data Science for solar O&M
Hi everyone, I’m glad I had the chance to meet Calin in person, and through his invitation I joined this community. I’m excited to learn more about Data Science as a complementary skill for solar O&M and operations. My background is in DevOps and automation, and my goal is to gradually add data analysis capabilities. I’m especially interested in data modeling, PV performance calculations, and practical analytics used in real plants. If you have recommended courses, learning paths, or hands-on ideas, I would really appreciate your input. Thanks a lot, Daniel

Hi Daniel, As Marios stated before, I also believe that PVlib is the best place to start. You can find some open-source PV system time-series datasets along with irradiance data here: Monitoring Data TRUST-PV Bifacial HJT SAT Plant, Bolzano, Italy. This paper may also guide you in the right direction regarding unsupervised O&M and failure-detection practices.
