🏆 WEEK 5 COMP WINNER 🏆
Yet again making this SO hard to decide, I am bringing together a rubric just to be able to really break these down its getting so close. OVER 37 ENTRIES. Spent all day today looking at YouTube Videos, testing apps, reading through markdown files. Going to spotlight six (no particular order), then a few thoughts on where this is heading as well as the winner out of everyone. 🥊 @Ariel Ortiz , The Praeceptor Honest read: if Ariel had been premium last week, he was the winner and again this week easily can take home the prize but more importantly they are premium now! He went premium and somehow raised his own bar. Idea for a Native iOS app in Swift 6 , three YouTube videos including a 4:28 behind-the-build, voice mode pipeline, 17 operator extractions (Grove, Munger, Walsh, Aurelius, Naval, more). Hero copy reads "A room. Not an app." which was really a great hook, one of those opening lines that makes you very curious right off the rip. What I'd take from Ariel beyond this comp: he treats every brief like a product launch. Even the video stack alone is a walk towards the idea that distribution matters as much as tech now. 🔗 https://praeceptor-web.vercel.app 🔗 https://github.com/orteug/the-praeceptor 📹 https://youtu.be/Cfs1KAC2Ry0 🔥 @Ruby Sparks , The Gut Mechanic Ruby's a monster. Every week crushes it without a doubt. The landing pivots from consumer pain into a B2B sales pitch in one stat (the $530B-lost-to-employee-health number) and her voice across the entire page is sharper than what most paid brand consultants ship. She also created an ENTIRE skool community for it. Which is a win in its self. Twenty years of chronic illness in the founder story. IG, Skool, a 14-minute course, B2B framing layered into the consumer hook so the consumer side does discovery and the B2B side does monetization.

@Daniel Neuhaus Congratulations!
What's your Mac Mini setup look like?
I didn't see a post about this, maybe I missed it. I need to upgrade from my Air because while it was adequate before, now that I'm working more it's just too slow and full of files. Would love some ideas on how you're using a mac mini in your workflow - what specs did you buy, what display and are you running claude code, ollama or something else?

How does everybody start?
I recently had a couple ideas come across my path. Nothing paid but an opportunity to build in public. Something that could give me some traction. My problem is doing as Jake recommends and asking the questions. I’m not sure where to start.one of them a neighbor works for a company that makes installed blinds and yachts. All they have for a tool is quickbooks he asked how difficult it would be to set something up to help him with scheduling the workers to go to the installs, verify the yacht is where is supposed to be, texting the info to workers, etc. I’m not sure all how he does things now and that’s my roadblock. I’m not sure if I want to take it on? I’m thinking a simple workflow, but I don’t know how I would collect and store the information? Keep it all marked down so all the employee information and phone number his contact information or maybe store it in some kind of database somewhere, tap into QuickBooks? But that I would even know where to begin. I was even thinking maybe using some API to tap into the yachts transponder to see where it actually is to verify it is where they’re saying it is. Not sure of ideas I’m short of questions and solutions.

sometimes, when I get stuck, i drop my dump of thoughts and questions into Claude and ask it to help me dissect it further with my end goal in mind. I ask it to help me with what I don't know/ haven't thought about. It usually points me in a good direction.
Building Sites and Apps - Free
I'm interested in what people think about this. I've been working with Cloudflare for many months, building free sites using their Workers/Pages feature. Anyone else doing this? I see people talking about Vercel but I don't know why I would consider using Vercel yet. Maybe I'll use them side by side. Here is a comparison:

Finally Almost Done With These Sites — Looking for Honest Thoughts
Hey guys — honestly just looking for some real feedback from people in here because you guys always give solid insight. I’ve been building two websites over the last while and they’re finally getting close to being “done.” There’s still a few small tweaks and refinements I want to make, but overall the core vision is there now. One is my personal practice/project:jaydenforshee.com It’s built around ICM with an ontological layer on top of it and is more of a personal/creative/philosophical expression. The second is my AI agency + infrastructure work:griffain.app Would seriously appreciate if you guys could check them out and give feedback on: - UI/UX - Flow/navigation - Functionality - Copy/writing - Mobile responsiveness - Overall feel/impression Desktop/laptop is probably the best experience right now lol, but mobile should work pretty well too. I’m mainly trying to catch blind spots before I fully call them finished. Appreciate anyone who takes the time to look through them 🙏.

@Jayden Forshee I agree that it looks AI generated, which as Claude becomes more widely used will make you look more like an amateur than a professional. If it has your name, people expect a more personable tone of voice. If Substrate is your brand then it should be the domain name. I go on your name and see nothing about the person, that's a disconnect. I have no idea what you do or why I need you, that friction means your customers won't understand either. I'm assuming you're targeting people who aren't using AI, but people not in this space won't understand the message here you need to convert it to a language that they can connect to their problem. I'd suggest trying this: https://github.com/ryanthedev/design-for-ai/tree/main (not mine but I've used it and it works well) and asking Claude to lean into the ideas of 100m offers and Influence by Robert Cialdini to rewrite your message and make it connect more. This will make massive improvement I'm sure. Hope this helps!

@Jayden Forshee you'll get there! Start with the action you want people to take on the website and work backwards. Use Claude to help you explaining your goal and letting it guide you.
