Jackie’s update 8/5
I am sharing the official update from the Ojai Raptor Center. Please continue to hold Jackie in your thoughts and prayers as we all hold our breath, hoping these additional tests will finally provide some answers. Patient Update: Bald Eagle 26-519 Today was a significant day for Patient 26-519. She underwent further advanced diagnostics, including a contrast CT scan and a bone marrow biopsy. She recovered well from anesthesia and is back in her enclosure receiving supplemental oxygen. Our veterinary team, together with our scientific advisory council and consulting specialists, are now reviewing today's findings alongside her previous test results. Additional lab work is still pending. We will share a more comprehensive update once we have had the opportunity to review everything. https://youtu.be/2Qx7BVQUJkk

@LM Sharron to be honest, I have not heard or read the back story so I have no idea what happened. But the vet side of me was curious to what is going on. How old is Jackie?
8/3 Jackie Update
Here is the official update on our beloved Jackie from Ojai Rapture Center. Please continue to send love Jackie’s way. Bald Eagle Patient 26-519 Patient Update: Bald Eagle 26-519 Today's bloodwork brought some difficult news: her packed cell volume (PCV) has dropped back down to 13%, which means her anemia has worsened since our last update. Our veterinary team is responding quickly. Additional advanced diagnostic testing is now underway, and expedited laboratory testing has been requested as we continue working to better understand her condition and guide the next steps in her treatment. At this stage, we do not have further answers to share, but we promise to keep you informed as soon as we have meaningful new information. We know how deeply so many of you care about this eagle, and we are grateful for your continued encouragement and support. At this time, we kindly ask the public and members of the media to continue respecting the veterinary and rehabilitation teams involved in her care by allowing them the time and space they need to remain focused on patient care. Please refrain from calling, texting, emailing, or visiting our facility for updates. Thank you for standing with us as we continue doing everything possible for Patient 26-519.

@Dr. Peninah Wood Ph.D We vets are only human. Sometimes when you are in the middle of the deep trenches, you do the regular things, then when that does not work, you go for the more expensive and outside the box thinking type things, if and when you remember to think of it. It is a lot easier to think of stuff (that may or not help) when you are not in the middle of it. Frustrating as we all want the best and speedy recovery for Jackie.

@Dr. Peninah Wood Ph.D I live part time in Tennessee (East) and part time in Israel. I work online -telehealth - and relief in hospitals in the States I have a license in. Where are you in Kentucky? I understand you are a PhD not a vet, right? Although looks like you do a lot of what I advocate for and will be working on in the community I have off of here and will build here as well.

🔥 Tooting My Own 🔥
Yes, I'm fully aware someone here is laughing... Okay... now that the twelve-year-olds have finished giggling... 😂 Clear the room... About a month ago, I realized I had stopped creating. I felt stuck, disconnected from my purpose, and honestly wondered where I belonged. So I made myself one simple promise. Show up every day. Nothing huge. Just keep moving, and each day I would quietly say, "Done." One day became a week. A week became two. Before I knew it, I had completely lost track of the count. Then yesterday... 🔥 popped up next to my name in Skool. It took me by surprise. I wasn't expecting it. I was genuinely proud of myself and a self-high-five ensued. Not only am I celebrating that this girl is on 🔥, I'm celebrating keeping a promise to myself. If you've been waiting until you feel motivated, inspired, or "ready," maybe don't. Pick one small thing that matters to you and simply show up, if only for a few minutes. One "Done" may not seem like much. But enough "Dones" can change the way you see yourself. Here's to showing up, one day at a time.

I am still struggling to get into the community vibe.. I have a community for new pet owners on a different platform and have been checking skool out, not sure if I want to pay the monthly "vig" as my husband calls subscriptions... I have so much work and projects that getting sucked into a bunch of communities feels burdensome. One reason I barely show up on Facebook... Would love to know how others mange that, or maybe they are not working and building a house (literally but very slowly) and caring for chickens and helping children with grandchildren and mowing the acreage and and and...

@LM Sharron That is really sweet of you. I have figured out that I need to quit looking for the shiny new thing. I need to work on building my community (it is on the Mastermind platform in Gohighlevel) and once I ahve my momentum and system figured out, I will see if skool is right to go on with. Ihave spent way too many thousands on that to drop it. But everyone is telling me the same thing. So message received and don't worry, I will still check things out on your side. BTW, I believe I joined your platform from your profile as well - sorry, did not know!
🐾 Too Hot for a Walk? ☀️
When the temperature rises, remember that hot pavement can burn your companion's paw pads in just seconds. If it's too hot outside, it's okay to skip the walk and bring the fun indoors instead! Here are a few ideas to help your dog burn energy while staying cool: 🐾 Hide treats around the house and let them sniff them out. 🐾 Fill a puzzle and treat toys with pumpkin, plain yogurt, or xylitol-free peanut butter and freeze them. 🐾 Spend 5–10 minutes practicing tricks or basic obedience. Mental exercise can be just as tiring as physical exercise. 🐾 Play a gentle game of fetch down a hallway or a game of tug. 🐾 Offer a frozen lick mat for a cool, calming activity. 🐾 Freeze a damp towel for a few minutes and let them relax on it, or use a cooling mat if you have one. 🐾 Keep fans running, close the blinds during the hottest part of the day, and make sure fresh, cool water is always available. You can even add a few ice cubes to their water dish for an extra treat. ☀️🐾 If you live somewhere with extremely hot sidewalks, dog booties designed for hot pavement can help protect their paws. Even so, early morning or evening walks are still the safest choice. If you can't comfortably keep the back of your hand on the pavement for 7 seconds, it's too hot for your dog's paws. ❤️ Sometimes the kindest thing we can do is stay inside. A little creativity, a few games, and some extra snuggles can make for a wonderful day together. What are your favorite indoor activities with your companion when it's just too hot outside? Share your ideas below! 🐾
