Author Q&A Session: Printing Costs High on Canva!
Last night during our 𝐀𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐫 𝐐&𝐀, I got to work with @Demetra Lambros on her journal/planner, and this is something everyone here needs to hear. She designed her book in Canva (and honestly… it looked amazing 👏). But when she looked into printing through Canva… the cost came out to $27 per copy 😳 Now compare that to Amazon KDP… 👉 The same type of book could be printed for around $3 as an author copy That’s not just a small difference...that’s a complete game changer when it comes to profit margins, pricing strategy, and actually building a scalable publishing business. I attached a short replay from our session where she asked some really good questions about: - Moving from Canva to KDP - Printing costs & profit margins - What to think about before publishing If you’re working on a journal, planner, or low-content book… this will help you avoid some expensive mistakes. Also—quick reminder about the 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐮𝐦 𝐓𝐢𝐞𝐫 👇 This wasn’t a private consult or 1:1… this was just one of our group Q&A calls. And here’s the thing—sometimes those calls are smaller, which means you get real-time, hands-on help like this. Inside Premium ($40/month), you get: ✨ Full Book Challenge Course: Step-by-step guidance to go from idea → published on Amazon ✨ 2 Live Q&A Calls Per Month: Bring your questions and get direct support to move faster ✨ 2 Monthly Workshops: Deep dives into things like formatting, promotion, and strategy ✨ DM + Loom Support: Stuck? Message me. I’ll help you keep moving. UPGRADE TO PREMIUM NOW If you’ve been sitting on a book idea or feeling stuck in the process…this is your sign to take action and actually get it done. Also shoutout to @Angel Conway for joining the party after we did our QA session. 😉

I’ll have to watch this! KDP is awesome for journals, planners and notebooks. I have made all three and the quality is so nice.
Real Connections, Real Growth: Chicago Skool IRL
If you’re not yet part of a Skool IRL community, go check the Skool directory and see if there’s one in a major city near you. It’s absolutely worth it. Last night we had our 🌇 Chicago Skool IRL meetup, facilitated by @Steve Gast , and it was such a great experience connecting with people face-to-face. What made it even better was seeing so many familiar names from this community in the room. There were some fantastic presentations, and I want to take a moment to spotlight a couple of members here. First, @MJ Berst , who has been quietly working inside the premium tier of this community while building her book. She gave an excellent presentation about getting your finances organized, which is incredibly important for self-publishers. One of the biggest lessons is making sure your personal finances and business finances stay separate. As you grow your publishing business, that distinction becomes essential. I’m hoping to bring MJ into the community for a future event so she can share more about this topic. And I can’t wait to see her book come to life. If you want to learn more about what she’s building, go check out her community. 🎉 EVERYDAY ROCKSTARS I also want to give a shoutout to @Angel Conway , who has been a very active member here and is currently working through the premium lessons while writing her book. Her project focuses on how crocheting can be therapeutic and help people get through high-stress situations, which is such a powerful topic. If that resonates with you, definitely check out her community as well. WASTE NOT YARN SOCIETY Events like this are a great reminder that communities don’t just exist online. When you attend these meetups, you find cheerleaders for what you’re building, make real connections, and always walk away with new ideas and inspiration.

@Krista Brea that’s awesome!
From Idea to Author - Week 1
From Idea to Author is where I’m documenting my journey to publishing my first book. Starting with nothing more than an idea and no knowledge of the publishing process, I’ve found a fabulous mentor in @Krista Brea, set a launch date, and begun following her clear roadmap. I’ll be sharing my journey, lessons learned, and my progress (the good, the bad and the ugly) along the way! How exciting! Woohoo! Exciting news!
Making Money with Amazon
If you’ve been around here for a while, you know I started publishing on Amazon KDP at the end of 2022. And here’s what I can tell you with full confidence: once you understand the platform and get a few solid books live, they keep working for you. That’s the part people underestimate. When you treat Amazon like a search engine (which it is), optimize correctly, choose smart categories, and publish with strategy ... those books don’t just sit there. They sell. Month after month. While you’re doing other things. To be completely transparent… I’ve spent a lot of time pouring into this community (which I love), but my books have been wildly outperforming anything I’ve done here on Skool. That was a wake-up call for me. So I’m going back into production mode. Because if we’re talking true passive income, Amazon is hard to beat. Millions of people are already shopping there every single day. You don’t have to convince them to get on the platform. You just have to position your product in front of demand. And tonight, we’re breaking this down. At 6:30pm Central, @Sybil Hall and I are diving into the key differences between Amazon KDP and Amazon FBA ... what makes them different, who each model is best for, and how to decide based on your goals and resources. If you’re serious about building income that doesn’t rely on daily posting, constant selling, or chasing trends… this conversation matters. Check the calendar and don’t miss it. Let’s build smarter.
