Happy Memories
I shift forward as we climb to balance my weight on my horse, leaning into the perfect angle to witness the sunlight filtering through the aspen trees. They whisper as a breeze moves through, exciting their shimmer. There's nothing quite like emerging on the peak of a mountain to take in the view. Rainbows fill the horizon. Two perfect arches over the Snake river, capped by mountain peaks on either side, blessing the valley. Minds wander. Sometimes they want to stroll down memory lane. That doesn't mean we have to let them take us to the land of rumination and regret. If your mind wants to take a trip to the past, choose a happy memory. Recall the best rainbow you've ever witnessed, and move forward refreshed by the reminder of God's faithfulness.
Grief
Grief is a quiet kind of love that never knows where to go. I recently lost my grandpa and it has left a space in my heart that words cant quite reach. He was steadiness, wisdom, and comfort wrapped all into one.....someone who you could always count on no matter what. I'll miss his voice, his stories, and the way his presence alone felt like home. I'm grateful for every moment, every lesson, and every piece of him that lives on in me. Forever loved. Forever missed đź’›

Kristen❤️ I can tell from the way you write about him that the love between you and your grandpa was of the best kind. I felt the same with mine. Lost him almost 2 years ago. I can't say that I don't still feel grief, but I can say that I feel peace. Death is not the end for your grandpa's spirit. It lives on in you. His presence is still with you. You can still talk to him and hear his wisdom. It's just different now. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

@Kristen Johnson your reunion hug with him in Heaven will be SO worth the wait. Feel all you need to feel. Cry if you need to cry. It takes more strength to express your emotions than it does to suppress them. Strength you have in Christ ❤️
Why Success Doesn’t Always Equal Fulfillment
Yesterday’s VBS was awesome. Huge thank you to everyone who jumped in, shared their stories, and added so much depth to the discussion. I had a few questions come in afterward, so I wanted to share some thoughts for anyone who couldn’t make it. Serving rarely makes sense time wise or financially, but when its done with a genuine servants heart, it often brings the fulfillment we have been searching for. Many of us work on our bodies, minds, and habits, which are all good things. But what if that work is preparation, not the destination? What if we are being equipped to serve others better? True fulfillment comes from using our spiritual gifts daily and living with a servant’s heart. That is why the mission has to be bigger than ourselves. God calls us to create impact through serving people, and that is where fulfillment is found. I put some of the slides in here for reference as well as some of the reflection questions, and I would love to see some of your answers in the comments below!

I looked up a list of spiritual gifts named in the Bible and it was really helpful because I could instantly pick out the ones I identify with! Wisdom, compassion, and service. Cool!

It was wonderful meeting you Sarah! I really appreciated what you shared. Thank you for opening up and being vulnerable with us. That took strength, and was a beautiful reminder of how incredible it is that we have a God who hears us every time we call His name. ❤️ He is working in you and He is working FOR you!
The Silly Song Book
Two great verses, but where to take the chorus? I slam my hands on the piano in a cacophony of frustration. I keep coming back to this song that doesn't seem to want to be written. Perhaps it's time to work on something else. I find myself wandering upstairs to sort through boxes of books in my grandfather's library. One stack at a time, organizing. Amongst the banjo theory and fiddle mastery works, I come across "The Silly Song Book". I open it and scan the lyrics. "That one-eared cat who used to sit, Watching grandma rock and knit, Swallowed a ball of bright red yarn, And out came her kittens with red sweaters on." Sometimes you're not really stuck. You just need a reminder that it's not that serious.
