People loose their jobs, pets, children. Here in Texas, for an attempt it’s 10 days minimum. Here in Amarillo, the police take pets directly to the pound if no person steps in. My dog is a small dog, when I kept calling the pound here, they told me they had to put my dog outside because they didn’t have room and those were all big dogs etc.. When I was miraculously connected with a kind family who took my dog in she was riddled with fleas and ticks from the pound and this family treated her at the vet. It still burns my soul how my dog suffered at the pound, and how when this family rescued her I think they were lied to because they asked me if I had her out in a yard, I lived in an apt. I told them I would never let any insects on her. I think it was that I was behind on her hartzguard treatment, as to how she got those crazy amount of fleas and ticks at the pound. I still am bothered how that made me look. Yes, I went in involuntarily due to a suicidal meltdown. The Pavilion here lied to me to get me compliant, they kept saying they have a program for my dog but there was no program. They kept saying church ladies will help me, but there was not such a plan nor any “church ladies”. I acknowledge that yes, I did make an attempt on my life but I feel violated how they lied to me and how my dog was done by the pound here. I am feeling much better nowadays thanks to these groups!
