🎯From Memorization to the PMP® Mindset: How I Passed on My First Attempt
Hi Andrew and PMP community! I'm excited to share that I passed the PMP® exam on my first attempt!🎉 With 15+ years of professional experience, an Executive MBA, a Master's degree in Economics, Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt certification, and 300+ professional courses and certifications, PMP was still one of the most challenging—and rewarding—certifications I've earned. 👨‍🏫 Why Andrew? I already knew the PMP fundamentals, but I was studying the wrong way. I was trying to memorize processes, ITTOs, and details instead of truly understanding the concepts and the PMP mindset. After researching different instructors, I chose Andrew because of his ability to explain complex concepts in a simple, practical way and because of his students' outstanding success stories. 📚My Study Strategy - Attended every Live PMP Boot Camp session (from Serbia, they started at midnight because of the time difference). - Completed every homework assignment. - Attended every Tuesday Live Coaching session. - Followed Andrew's study plan exactly. - Completed 100% of Andrew's Exam Simulator (Study Mode, Exam Mode, Video Mode, Ultra Hard Questions, Drag & Drop, Micro Exams, and Full-Length Mock Exams). - ✅ After completing Andrew's Exam Simulator, I wanted even more practice, so I completed all PMI Study Hall questions and mock exams, consistently scoring 80–100%. - 📊 One thing I particularly enjoyed was Earned Value Management (EVM). Coming from a strong analytical background, I really enjoyed the calculations, numerical analysis, and interpreting burnup and burndown charts. - 🎧 Listened to Andrew's mindset videos whenever I was driving or walking. - ⏱️Practiced Andrew's time-management strategy before exam day. 💡The biggest lesson I learned was simple: Don't try to memorize everything. Learn the PMP mindset. 📝Exam Day The actual exam was more difficult than I expected, and Andrew's Ultra Hard Questions were excellent preparation. Unfortunately, I also experienced a major distraction at the Pearson VUE test center. The candidate sitting next to me was unwell and coughed throughout most of the exam, making it difficult to concentrate. At one point, I genuinely thought I was going to fail. I finished the exam convinced that I hadn't passed. Thankfully, I was wrong.🙏

I DID IT!!! 😆
Just wanted to say thank you Andrew. I passed my PMP first try on the 7th! T/T/T (even though every practice exam I took I scored 70%+ 🤔). I was determined not to have to study all over again. All praises to The Most High 🙌 So grateful.

PASSED!
First shout-out to @Nikola Janjic for easing me and everyone's mind on here! Second - I passed with 88 mins on the exam (yes yes I know, but it was just... eh?) If your background is simlair to mine, it might help! Background: 4-6 years of PM experience with PMO - The company provided engagement manager courses at level 1 - SAFE Scrum and Agile certified 3 years ago Study plan: - Udemy course + Slides up on second monitor to read too (on 1.2-1.5 speed because I'm adhd, but I paused and rewatched the area I did not understand) - MINDSET VIDEO HALFWAY THOUGH - better to understand the mindset in the beginning, then watch the rest so you're TRAINED to understand how to think - Ultra Hard questions 50q - 100 q - Mock test on Udemy - Rest of Ultra Hard questions - Day or 2 before the test - rewatched mindset - Understand what the PERT values are - not just memorization (aka everything above 1 is good, except Total BAC one) Optional but helped me get my confidence up - SH Essentials - a couple 15q quizes - 2 days before took 1 full exam (got a 68-75) - Sutdied wrong answers Exam Tips I haven't seen anyone else post: - Read the LAST SENTENCE FIRST. What are they asking you? Then read the answers or the question again. Get your frame of mind into "What are they asking me to do?" - The wording is sometimes VERY TRICKY. If you see a question and it indirectly mentions doing a step already and they ask "What you will do NEXT" do not choose the answer that repeats that step already taken.
