If you sell on ebay, you are aware that ebay is always in favor of the buyer not the seller. A buyer can basically submit a refund request for anything they want and ebay will always justify giving them a refund. This is an issue for the seller, as you lose the sale price (have to refund the buyer) and many times also lose the card! Two common scenarios I keep facing regularly include: 1) Buyer says that they never received a card that is shipped via ebay standard envelope. This is impossible to dispute as ebay standard envelopes are just USPS standard mail with NO TRACKING. Even though ebay gives you a so-called "tracking number", it is not an actual tracking number and only registers when the item is shipped, not the statuses or delivery confirmation. 2) Buyer claims that they never received a card that is shipped via USPS ground advantage with actual tracking that shows the item was delivered. My approach for these 2 scenarios, as the buyer, is as follows: - Note, the dispute is typically open for 5 days. Thus, do not resolve it immediately, but do 100% resolve it before the end of the 5 days so that your seller account does not get dinged. - Start by immediately messaging the buyer to understand the situation and see what they did so far. - For the ebay standard envelope, convince them to wait 4-5 more days to see if the card arrives, inform them that you will issue them a refund if it does not, and then ask them to notify you later if they receive it after issuing the refund. - For the USPS ground advantage package, ask them to follow-up with their local USPS to confirm the package was delivered and that it was not a mistake by the system or they are holding it at the post office. - If you have to refund the buyer for ebay standard envelope you can get your money back on the loss via ebay's PIP program: https://www.pip-claim.com/PIPClaim/eBayIntClaim/CreateeBayClaim - If you have to refund the buyer for USPS ground advantage you can get your money back (up to the maximum insured value) via USPS direct: https://www.usps.com/help/claims.htm
