Dating as a Single Dad
Hoping some of you guys have been through something similar and we could offer advice to each other. Long story short, I just got out of a pretty long term, very serious relationship. My ex was very involved in my daughters (13 y/o) life. We lived together, went on family vacations, she really had a big role in her life for a while. We ended things on good terms and will ideally still be able to see each other from time to time, and I know that she would like to see my daughter in the future as well. My daughter understands and is being cool about it all, but seems pretty disappointed that things didn't work out, and now I'm very worried about jumping into any new relationship for fear that this same thing will play out. Ive been in other relationships that have ended of course, but my daughter was much younger then. Anybody been through this stuff before?

Tips to Help with Your Kids
Tip: Emotional Connection Through Quality Time: 1. Prioritize one on one time -Why it matters: Spending dedicated time with your child strengthens your bond and builds trust. -How to Do it: Set aside regular uninterrupted time each week for activities that your child likes. I know this might be hard with your schedule but this is a must especially in the early ages. 2. Engage in Their Interest -Why it matters Participating in your Childs interest shows that you value the things they like and help connect on a deeper level. -How to Do it: Whether it's playing a sport, reading their favorite book, or doing some creative projects, show genuine enthusiasm and involvement.

This is so crucial. It's hard some times to not get caught up in the daily stress of life. Work, dinner, clean up, bedtime routine...we can't forget to make the time for the one on one connection time. For my daughter and I, it used to be playing her favorite video games (Roblox), then it was filming Tik Tok videos. Now it's progressed to more physical activities like volleyball / basketball / pickle ball etc. They definitely appreciate when we MAKE time for doing what they are into, and the older they get the more they really start to notice the effort.
