I think perhaps the drill at this level is more about learning to move, flank and get a base understanding on how to use CFM in general along with some base Close Quarter tactics like arm drags and other clinch and anti clinching techniques. Doing drills like this over and over give you the knowledge as to what you can do. Having video allows you to review and analyze what went right and what areas you need to work on. I like the drill because it adds live stress to using the CFM footwork and strategy without injury. As you get better you can add bodies, different environments, etc. At some point you could allow more contact with protective gear to add another layer of stress and fear. But all of this must be done in increments that the trainee can handle. I am a retired boxing coach and that is how I am making these observations. I am here to learn and not an expert. I may be completely wrong. These are just my ideas.
@Franckthesolution Tactops Thank you for your quick response. I was trying to both ways but I will go with the push step moving from now on. I have the foot position down and you can really feel the difference when you have the right alignment and “stack the bones” when you punch as you instructed in the video with Phil Daru. I really appreciate the opportunity to learn more about your system. Thanks again!
