🐢🌊 Quiet Wins on Our Beaches 🌊🐢
Before most people had their morning coffee, 62 baby sea turtles were rescued at Flamingos Beach earlier this week. A local noticed movement in the sand, reported it, and Mexican Navy personnel responded quickly. The hatchlings were safely transferred to Puerto Vallarta’s El Holy incubation nursery, where they’re now under protected care. Moments like this don’t always look dramatic. The beach looks the same. But those first minutes after hatching are the most dangerous. Bright lights, foot traffic, birds, even well-meaning people can unknowingly put hatchlings at risk. This is a good reminder that living here means we’re sharing the coastline, not just enjoying it. If you ever spot hatchlings or a nest emergency, the best help is usually to give space, keep pets and lights away, and report it rather than intervene. The Navy’s local number is 322-216-6618, and for sea emergencies 800 MARINA1. These small, quiet efforts are part of what makes coastal life here special — locals and expats noticing, caring, and doing the right thing. Have you ever seen turtle hatchlings on our beaches, or been part of a release or rescue here in PV? 🐢💬

Great info on what to do if I find myself in that situation! Thanks!
🚢🌴 January Cruise Ship Surge: What PV Expats Should Know 🇲🇽⚓
Puerto Vallarta is starting January strong with 23 cruise ship calls on the calendar. Most days bring one ship, but there are a few dates worth paying attention to if you live here full-time. Heads-up dates 👇 • Tuesday, Jan 6 – three ships in port • Wednesday, Jan 21 – three ships in port There are also double-ship days on: • Jan 7 • Jan 20 • Jan 28 On these days, locals usually feel it before they see it: tighter traffic near Marina Vallarta, busier taxis, packed tours, and heavier foot traffic in Centro, the Malecón, the Romantic Zone, and the beach areas. Cruise traffic hits in bursts, not all day. • Morning: arrivals + tour departures • Midday: busy waterfront and downtown • Late afternoon: passengers heading back to ships For residents, it’s less about avoiding tourists and more about planning timing — errands, appointments, or that favorite lunch spot you don’t want to share with a sudden wave of visitors. On the upside, these days are often big for local vendors, drivers, guides, and restaurants. On the downside, they can feel compressed if you’re not expecting them. January is where that balance really shows up. Quick question for the community: Do you adjust your routine on cruise days, or just roll with it? Any tips for avoiding the worst pinch points? Sharing real, on-the-ground experience is what helps everyone here.

Good to know, I’m adding the 3 ship days to my calendar!
New ID requirements for mobile phones
The Mexican government passed a new regulation that requires an ID when signing up for a mobile phone number. I have already encountered issues (January 2,2026) when trying to obtain an eSIM over the internet from Telcel. Getting an eSIM in person at the Telcel office was quick and easy, but they did require an ID. https://www.gob.mx/crt/prensa/la-crt-aprueba-y-emite-los-lineamientos-para-la-identificacion-de-lineas-telefonicas-moviles?
One thing I wish I knew before moving to Puerto Vallarta 🇲🇽☀️
I’ll start 👇 One thing I wish I knew before moving to Puerto Vallarta was just how hot and humid the summers can get. It definitely took some time to adjust 😅🌴 Curious what others would add. What’s one thing you wish you knew before moving to PV? 👇💬

@Michael van der Voort Oh wait, here’s a modified Costco one: Just because you’re a Costco super fan in the US, you may not be one in PV and not because of the lines. I don’t know what it is. In the states I’m a super fan. Here I’m just a meh fan. Lol

Oh, can I have another one? For those that cook, Maggi is like Mexican soy sauce and is completely different than US or German Maggi.
Explore the New Viva Tequila Agave Museum Experience in PV! 🌵🥃
If you’re into Mexican culture, history, and of course tequila, there’s a unique new experience in Puerto Vallarta that’s worth checking out! The Viva Tequila experience inside Teatro Vallarta has been reimagined this year as an immersive agave museum and tasting journey that goes beyond just taking shots. This experience isn’t a loud bar stop — it’s designed to be a calm, cultural walk through the story of agave and tequila with rich visuals and thoughtful displays about how this iconic Mexican spirit is made and enjoyed. From what’s been shared, it feels like a museum-style space focused on the art, traditions, and sensory history of tequila — part tasting, part cultural exhibit — and seems ideal for anyone curious about the deeper side of one of Mexico’s most famous drinks. If you’ve already been or are thinking about checking it out, drop your thoughts here 👇
