Fun times in Philly
I know we’re kinda semi-officially a KEXP community here, but WXPN in Philly is doing a fun thing today where everything they play is off vinyl, live to air. Crackles, pops, skips, rpm screw-ups, the whole ride! To boot, they’ve got an in-studio cam going, so you can see all the needle-drops and turntable swap-outs and all that. I find it bizarrely soothing. Worth a look if you have any look & listen time today! https://xpn.org/wxpn-is-spinning-24-hours-of-vinyl-on-april-9/

Fun! I was a big listener during the David Dye World Cafe days.
Daily Music Diary Mix
So one thing I’ve gotten into over the last few years is making a song-a-day mix. I got the idea from ex-MTV host Dave Holmes, and all you do is pick one song each day… something you hear, something you think of, something tied to an event/news item/personal milestone, etc. and you just keep building over 365. At the end of each year (or each month, even) not only do you have a sweet - and often very random! - mix but afterwards you can look back on it and re-live the time… be it “oh yeah, that’s the day I watched ____” or “I was out at my local and this song just hit the moment perfectly!” Just sharing in case anyone here wants to give it a go moving forward! Or maybe you do it too? If anyone is interested, here’s how my year started (and, yes, thank you @John Richards for more than a couple of these!) https://music.apple.com/ca/playlist/01-january-2026/pl.u-b3b84WNUbAvLP https://open.spotify.com/playlist/6LhKcbjOy0CkY4mJFazeCT

@Lisa Braun Thank you so much, Lisa. Glad you enjoyed it.
Savannah Music Festival
Spent most of last week on Spring Break in Savannah, GA. It was our first time there and just happened to be same time as the Savannah Music Festival. Saw two shows: Reverie Road and Julian Lage Quartet. Live music energy was a great addition to the awesome nature, art and food we experienced. https://www.savannahmusicfestival.org/

TV On The Radio
Every once in while I get this overwhelming "why don't I listen to this band more?" feeling. I'm currently having this moment with TVOTR. They're awesome. Why don't I listen to them more? Any TVOTR fans out there? Please share your favorite songs?

@Howie Cohen oh wow - love that.
When do you arrive at the show?
Doors open at 7. Opening band starts at 8. The headliner starts at 9-ish. When do you show up? Obvs this is dependent on who is playing, but let's go for averages. Your tendencies. What's your gut reaction?

I really love seeing the opening bands and it's really great when they blow you away. Just happened the other day. Went to see Bel Air Lip Bombs / dust. / Laveda at the Empty Bottle in Chicago. Laveda was the first band and they were awesome.
