As a watch guy. With a wife who loves watches. And 2 grown boys that are getting into watches. And a father who is learning watch repair as a hobby. What do you do for Christmas?? This year I thought I’d get each son a DIY watch Club watch. This way I get to build a watch for each of them. And they get a watch to add to their collection that their old man picked out and assembled. So basically I gave myself a gift of learning how to build a watch from a kit 🎉🎉. They get a watch their Dad thought they’d love and built it for them. I’m feeling like I gave myself a gift a little bit better than what I’m giving them😎🙏 This is going to be fun!! Here are the pictures of both kits. I bought one with the expanded tool kit the other standard as I didn’t know what they would need. I’ll post more as the project continues!!

I’ve been scrolling through the posts in this community for a bit, and something keeps standing out to me. Everyone here has a different taste in watches — some love divers, some love dress pieces, some are into affordable beaters, others go deep into movements and complications — but the one thing we all seem to share is the story behind why a watch matters to us. It made me realize something: For most watch lovers, the piece itself is only half the reason. The meaning is the other half. Sometimes it’s the first watch you bought with your own money. Sometimes it’s the piece that marks a milestone. Sometimes it's the one that made you fall in love with the hobby in the first place. This Thanksgiving holiday, I visited my mom, and during my time with her she gave me something incredibly meaningful—my stepdad’s old watch. He passed a few years ago, and life just hasn’t been the same without him. He wore this watch everywhere, and you can see his story in every scratch and mark. I can’t put into words how grateful and excited I am to receive this. I’ll wear it proudly, just as he did.
