Hello Friends - Today, @Eli Del Rio and @Mike Bennion-Rowe and I had an enjoyable hour of back and forth in support of each other. @Eli Del Rio and I introduced @Mike Bennion-Rowe to the concept of Buc-ee's (https://buc-ees.com) and their competitive advantage of clean restrooms. That lead to a fun conversation (see next post) about the life and experiences of visiting the toilette - just the fun things - we frequently forget about - (no triggers here we hope). Mike mentioned that this week (starting tomorrow) is the famous 3-day Manchester Pride. He will be live streaming the festivities (see first comment for link). Mke also mentioned a film project that requires a little crowd funding to complete - this is a 22 minute movie about a unplanned "meet up" of sorts and during the connection a trigger of a past trauma creates reflection and challenges (see 2nd comment for Mike's summary and informational links. We celebrated the lives of Dolly Parton and Tim Curry - two connections within our communities and two spirits that will be surely missed. I have volunteered to share a tribute to Tim by posting a karoke of me singing. At least you can have a memory of Tim and know why I am not in Nashville or LA on stage singing. :) We will be back next week - I forgot to record - so the above are my memories and notes. Hi all. I’ve been quiet recently, but for good reason I’m incredibly excited to share that Memorathos, my new short film, is set to go into production later this year. Memorathos is an LGBTQIA+ drama that explores memory, trauma and the lasting impact that buried experiences can have on our lives. It’s a deeply personal story that aims to start conversations around subjects that are often left unspoken. As with most independent films, bringing a project like this to life takes a community. I’m currently looking for people who would like to support the journey, whether through crowdfunding, sponsorship, sharing the project, or simply helping spread the word. Every contribution makes a difference and helps us create a film that can reach audiences, festivals and communities who may see parts of their own experiences reflected in the story. Hey Syndicate Fam, I wanted to take a minute and give a big shout out to our member @Mike Bennion-Rowe If you have not had the pleasure of talking with Mike in one of our Live Chats or through DM's you need to change that. Mike is one the masterminds behind TornBox, a video production, television and podcasting studio in the UK. He also just saved me A LOT of money. I reached out to Mike to see about his company editing my podcasts, because I wanted to up my quality a bit and love giving referrals inside our community. Mike looked over a couple of my episodes and gave me some VERY good advice on how to keep my production here, save on the outside editing team and to move the podcast up to the next level. Now THAT'S customer service and being there for your clients, new and old. Give them what they need and not always what they ask for and they will be loyal for life. So people have asked me "why TornBox as a name for a production company Mike?" Well there are two reasons. A torn box may not be useful as a box anymore, but with support from some tape, it could hold things again, if you give it to a child, it can be a spaceship or a house, if you give it to a crafter it could become part of a project, an artist may use it to create something beautiful. It's about not letting something that you perceive at first glance as damaged be devalued. That's the main reason it's called TornBox, it's about giving voices a platform to show their value. And the second reason? Well I will leave that to your imagination.
