1. PROLEGOMENA: LOGIC AND METAPHYSICS Aristotelian Logic: The concept, judgment, and reasoning. Metaphysics of Being: The analogy of being, essence, and existence (real distinction), and the transcendentals (Unum, Verum, Bonum, Pulchrum). Theory of Causes: Material, formal, efficient, final, and exemplary causes. Hylomorphism: The substantial union of prime matter and substantial form. 2. NATURAL THEOLOGY (THEODICY) The Five Ways of St. Thomas: Detailed analysis of movement, causality, contingency, perfection, and order. Divine Attributes of Being: Simplicity (absence of composition), Infinity, Immutability, and Eternity. Divine Attributes of Operation: The Knowledge of God (knowledge of simple intelligent beings and future contingents) and the Divine Will. 3. APOLOGETICS AND FUNDAMENTAL THEOLOGY Religious Demonstration: Necessity of religion and the Faith-Reason relationship. Christian Demonstration: Credibility of miracles and prophecies; the Resurrection as a historical fact. Catholic Demonstration: The institution of the Church by Christ and the transmission of authority. 4. SACRED SCRIPTURE (EXEGESIS AND HERMENEUTICS) Theology of Inspiration: The Holy Spirit as the principal author; man as a free instrumental author. The Four Meanings: Literal, allegorical (faith), tropological (moral), and anagogical (hope). Introduction to the Old Testament and New Testament: Pentateuch, Prophets, Wisdom Books, Synoptic Gospels, and Pauline Corpus. 5. TRINITOLOGY (ONE GOD IN THREE PERSONS) The Processions: Generation of the Word and Exhalation of the Holy Spirit. The Relationships: Fatherhood, Sonship, Active and Passive Exhalation. The Persons: The Person as “Subsistent Relationship.” Circumcision and divine missions. 6. ONTOLOGICAL CHRISTOLOGY AND SOTERIOLOGY The Hypostatic Union: One divine Person in two natures. The two wills and operations of Christ. The Impeccability of Christ: Infused, visionary, and acquired knowledge of Jesus. Soteriology: Redemption as sacrifice, satisfaction, merit, and ransom.
