Did you know you wanted a Chihuahua?
Did ya’ll know when you got your Chi or Chi mix that you knew you were out to get a Chi? Mine was a surprise. I just set out to get a small dog under 10’pounds. Preferably smaller but I was just looking around to see what was out there that I could adopt. I just knew I needed a smaller companion that would be easier for me to handle than medium and larger sized dogs. I was lucky within a month I had found several different dogs that I had started filling out applications for. Then I stumbled across Tinkerbell. Yes she was older ( 12 us) originally I was looking for a young dog. I kept going back to Tinkerbell because she had everything on my list that I was looking for in a dog. I was a little worried at first because everything looked very heard about Chi’s you know being aggressive, yappy little ankle biters but the place were I had adopted Tink from they had foster parents taking care of them and not just locked up in a shelter. ( I would have still adopted her if that were the case) but I was able to communicate with the foster mom frequently. She was a sweet young lady and she took the time and answered all my questions as well as I told her I was very interested in Tink but I had to go out of town for a week for two funerals. I know the one thing that saved me from Tink getting adopted before I was back because for a couple of months no one showed any interest in Tink because of her age. That really made me want to adopt her even more. I just kept thinking how sad it was to just ignore a sweet little girl because of her age and her lux patella. I knew she was sweet by what her foster mom had told me. Then I thought o feel like her at times too not with my family but others such as guys to date or even making friends myself, I too get looked at differently because I have to use either a cane, walker or wheelchair depending if we have to involve walking more than just a room’s length. That’s when it really clicked that Tink and I were meant to be. And now being in this Chi family everything I’ve heard about chihuahuas are wrong. Very wrong. I love my sweet Chihuahua and my family loves her as well so very much. She feels the love here and has adapted very well in just the month we’ve had her. That’s how I became a Chihuahua lover. I had Tink for about a week when google brought me to this site. I’m correcting people all the time about the misconceptions of Chihuahuas now. I can’t imagine life without my Tinkerbell. I don’t have to but Tinks foster mom is such a wonderful person that I update her all the Time about Tinkerbell and send her pictures as well. She loves hearing about Tinkerbell’s forever ♾️ family.
