positional chess
Hey guys, i am really struggling with positional chess. i like to play the queens gambit .. which IS positional. now i am around 1200 and in this range big blunders don´t happen every game but still when I don´t make any major mistakes i lose because i just don´t know where to put my pieces in closed positions, when to push pawns, where to attack. it´s kind of frustrating and i have no idea on how to improve on that. Here´s a recent game for an example: https://www.chess.com/analysis/game/live/127822773117?tab=analysis Would be thankful for any tips and/or someone who wants to practice with me. Cheers!

@Bob Hoeppner yeah, but, as far as I’m concerned, the way he expressed himself was incorrect….
New Rapid Elo
Hi guys, after my last tournament (where I drew a CN, won against two 1900+ and lost two games) FIDE updated my Rapid Elo and increased it to 1659. A bit disappointing but we’ll keep grinding!!!🔥

Journey to 1500 Elo Rapid chess.com Day 5 (small dip)
Hello fellow chess people today I played 4 rated rapid games and I didn't manage to get a single win losing 3 games and drawing 1 I'm not gonna explain much else. I don't really enjoy playing chess at the moment but I'll try to continue this journey and just get it over with

You should not play chess like this though. I mean, if you’re just playing chess in order to achieve a goal, and not caring about the game itself, you’re doing something wrong. The love for the game comes first! It can happen to reject chess sometimes, especially when you’re losing many games, but it should be just a temporary state, not a permanent one.

@Amir Nazari if you don’t enjoy chess anymore, I would recommend you taking a break….a long one though…..the passion is what keeps a chess player at the top
TOURNAMENT UPDATE!
Hi guys, today I played a Rapid (12|3) tournament in my town. I drew a CM, won against three 1800+ and lost two games against 1900+. I got 10th. I’m very happy for the result! Looking forward to seeing the variation of my FIDE Elo!

@Bobby Fischer I’ve been playing for 2 years now…..I got my first real FIDE rating on July though
My tournament result
The tournament was over on sunday but I didn't get time to write about it cause I had exams the next day Here how it went Day 1 3 games 2 wins 1 draw Probably my best ever performance cause I played a near perfect endgame in both games I won Had a brilliant Rook sac which won his queen after a sequence of moves in game 3 the draw was against a small kid who had a bad stomach mid match so we agreed to a draw(position was kinda equal) Day 2 3 games 2 draws 1 lost My entire playstyle in the first game was just asking for a draw, I was playing with black and didn't want to take the risk I was just confident that I could maybe beat her in the endgame but she was solid as well 2nd game though I should have won cause I was up a pawn and had forked his rooks but I completely forgot about that and took a hanging pawn instead ( I had around 10mins while my opponent had 30mins so I was trying to balance the clock a bit by playing a bit faster which I totally regret) I still could have won up 2 pawns but I blundered them both and it ended in a draw 3rd game I lost. (nothing much too say about that) Day 3 2 draws 1 lost Another poor performance I just got too lazy and settled for draws because I was playing against small kids who were just blitzing moves to the point where they had 25-30mins while I had 5-10mins and the thing is they weren't even playing bad moves I was just scared that I'd make a wrong move on low time so I didn't want to take risks Overall 4.5/9 My rating dropped by 49 points so it wasn't the best performance but a good experience Things I need to improve Time management - the games were 30+30 which is a new time control for me so I was really bad at using my time and would be down on the clock by a lot of time which would put me in pressure. Openings - I really needed to revise my openings again cause I don't know why but I was taking too much time in the opening even though I've played these openings since forever (I just kept forgetting the moves) I won't be playing much chess for a few months I have exams next month, Febuary and March so I'll be taking a break
