🏆 Honored Beyond Words 🖤📸
I am incredibly honored to receive the 2026 Community Signature Photography Impact Award. This recognition means so much because it reflects the heart behind everything I do—not just taking photographs, but helping people see themselves with confidence, authenticity, and purpose. When I created Photography by Cristal, my dream wasn't simply to capture beautiful images. It was to create a welcoming space where people feel seen, celebrated, and remembered. To everyone who has trusted me with their story, stepped in front of my camera, supported my communities, or encouraged me along this journey—thank you. This award belongs to all of us. A heartfelt thank you to David R, Fatima Teixeira, Rositsa (Ro), and Ref Z for organizing such a creative and inspiring Community Signature Battle. It has been an incredible experience connecting with so many amazing people and communities. Here's to continuing to help people show up as their authentic, confident selves—one photograph at a time. 💛 📸 Authenticity. Confidence. Connection. Impact. @Ossie Osmond @James Humecky @David R

💛 I Got Banned from a Community… and It Hurt
I got removed from a community this week by the owner because I accidentally broke the self-promotion rules multiple times. I made a mistake. Actually, I made the same mistake more than once. It hurt. A lot. I never intended to disrespect anyone's community or create extra work for the owner. I genuinely misunderstood the guidelines and kept getting it wrong. Something I don't talk about often is that I have a learning disability. Sometimes I struggle to process or remember instructions and social expectations. It's not an excuse, and I take responsibility for my mistakes, but it is part of my reality. I felt embarrassed, sad, and disappointed in myself. But I'm sharing this because I know I'm not the only one who has made mistakes, misunderstood something, or felt like I didn't fit in. This experience reminded me that being human means getting things wrong sometimes. It means apologizing, learning, and continuing forward with a little more wisdom and a lot more compassion for ourselves and others. I'm still here. I'm still building. I'm still learning. And if you've ever felt like you messed up, got rejected, or didn't understand something everyone else seemed to get—you're not alone. 💛

Every single one of us has misunderstood things at some point. And every single of us has made mistakes. It does hurt when it happens. It stinks that you were banned, especially if there was no way for you to explain what happened. I tend to not self promote in groups (even when it's encouraged) because I have neurodivergence and am afraid of being wrong so I keep quiet a lot.
From One Summit to 20 New Connections 📸✨
I have some exciting news to share! I offered my Remote Headshot Sessions as part of the SWAG BAG for the AI Driven Business Summit, and so far, I've booked 20 people! 🎉 Every session is complimentary because I'm intentionally building my remote headshot portfolio, meeting amazing new people, and growing both my photography business and community. More importantly, it's proving something I've believed all along: This system works. People are showing up, connecting with me from all over the world, and loving their results. I'm gaining new clients, new relationships, and new community members in the process. I also received one negative comment about my recorded speaker presentation. Honestly? I don't blame them. It was my first time creating a 20-minute presentation about my work. I pulled together clips from literally everything I've ever made, and it turned into nearly 20 minutes. Seeing myself on camera isn't something that comes naturally to me in the first place. But here's what I'm learning: Growth requires visibility. My business is calling me to show up live, make videos, speak more, and allow myself to be seen. It's uncomfortable. It's messy. It's imperfect. And I'm doing it anyway. Because every awkward video, every imperfect presentation, and every moment of discomfort is creating opportunities I never would have had if I stayed hidden. Twenty new connections are proof of that. So here's to showing up before you're ready, learning in public, and trusting that imperfect action still creates beautiful results. 💛📸✨

📸 Want to Instantly Look More Professional in Photos? Do This One Thing.
You can dramatically improve your photos in less than 10 minutes—without buying new equipment. ✨ Step 1: Find a large window with natural light. ✨ Step 2: Stand facing the window so the light falls evenly across your face. ✨ Step 3: Hold your phone slightly above eye level and turn your body just a little to one side. ✨ Step 4: Relax your shoulders and think of someone you genuinely enjoy talking to before you smile. That's it. Natural light softens your features, creates beautiful catchlights in your eyes, and instantly makes your photos look more polished and professional. The biggest difference between an average photo and a great one often isn't the camera. It's the light. Try this today and take one new photo. I think you'll be surprised by the difference. 📸✨ Have you ever noticed how much lighting changes the way you look in photos? 👇

📸 I Thought I Needed Better Gear. What I Really Needed Was to Start Creating.
One of the biggest mistakes I made when I started my photography journey was believing that great photography was only about having the best equipment. I spent too much time worrying about gear and not enough time simply creating, experimenting, and connecting with people. What I eventually learned is that photography is really about seeing. It's about noticing light, emotion, expression, and telling a story. The camera is just a tool. Over the years, I've realized that some of my favorite images happened because I was present, curious, and willing to try something new—not because I had the newest camera. If you're just starting out, my advice is simple: don't wait until everything is perfect. Use what you have. Practice often. Photograph the people and moments that move you. Every image teaches you something. The truth is, your eye and your heart will always matter more than your equipment. 📸✨ What's one mistake you've made that ended up teaching you something valuable? I tend to fall into the "I want things to be perfect category", so thank you for the reminder to just do the thing and try. Practice makes you better.
