Selecting a pipe can be a little confusing at first. There are a wide variety of styles, sizes and shapes, brands, and price ranges. When just beginning, it’s not really worth spending a whole bunch of money on a really nice pipe. At the same time, though, I wouldn’t buy a really cheap pipe either. I am of the opinion that a low to moderate priced pipe will provide everything you need for a great experience. You should consider whether or not you want the smoke in your face, which commonly occurs with straight pipes, but not so much with angled pipes. There are both long and short straight pipes, and there are long and short angled pipes. I keep a straight pipe and an angled pipe in my pipe kit. Perhaps you’ve seen a very very long pipe, that is reminiscent of J.R. Tolkien. This particular style is called a church warden. Additionally, there are deeper and larger bowls for longer sessions, and there are more shallow and smaller bowls for shorter sessions. I would get a larger bowl first. This will give you an opportunity to have either a long or a short session, depending on how much time you have. My favorite two pipes are Savinelli’s. One was $175 and the other was $135. However, my first pipe cost me $35. There is a really great pipe kit with pipe, tamper tool, and a few other items for a really great price of about $35 bucks on Amazon. I’ve taken a picture and I will leave a link here. https://a.co/d/44SPQMF This is a really great kit with which to start. Plus the pipe that accompanies the kit is surprisingly well-made. I’m actually smoking with it right now. In case you don’t go for the kit, don’t forget to get a tamper when you purchase your pipe. I’ve taken a picture below of one of the tampers that I have.
