5 contributions to Siberian Husky Pack
Three types of Siberian Husky and 3 very different girls in my pack. 🐾
I took Elie (Allstar), Hope and Eevee (Arwen) for a walk and talked about Sport/Racing, Standard/Working, and Show types. I share why I personally like the middle ground, while making clear that a sport or show Husky isn’t “wrong.” My girls show how different dogs can be even within that middle ground. Hope’s first 500 metres of canicross tell their own story. 😄 Watch the video below. What is your Husky like beyond any type label?

Mine is the type that sleeps a lot unless there's an opportunity to get in the way.

@Tereza Škraňka Procházková it is his age probably. He Doesn't seem to be in any pain from it at this point, but when he was rescued he had a evidence of a pretty severe injury. He had a brass pin sticking out of his leg, from an old surgery, and it was infected. He would sometimes limp Or hold up that leg on walks. But after a couple Of years that doesn't happen any more. It's possible that got him used to not climbing and jumping like normal. He has only escaped through an open door. One time my friend brought me a box and the dog ran out right past us when he was handing me the box and both our hands were full. Luckily my friend had 2 teenagers with him and they chased him down -- something I have never been able to do 😂 but they were strangers so maybe he thought they were just wanting to pet him.
Eating breakfast twice.
This morning, Bo seemed more interested than usual in breakfast. We started feeding him twice a day because he has some medical issues and needs medication and he's on prescription food, too, so it was better to get him to eat twice. So I fed him this morning, he ate very fast, then threw it up immediately. but seemed very keen to go ahead and eat it again. So I guess now everyone's happy as long as I don't think about it too much. no picture =D

Showed this to my son who said "one squirrel and it's over!"
Should you even get a Husky? My honest answer
Most people should not get a Husky. That's what I say in this video, and I mean it, with one big condition attached 🐺 Everyone tells you Huskies need tons of exercise. I only partly agree. What I see with our three is that they need attention, contact and their pack, and that's the part a lot of people miss. I filmed it on a walk with the dogs (still too warm for Husky sport, so walking it was) and talked through flats vs gardens, the puppy phase, the hunting instinct, why a Husky is not a Labrador, and the reason I'd tell someone to go for it. And the blue eyes don't count as a reason. Mine don't even have them 😄 I also turned it into a checklist in the Classroom, so if you're still deciding, or you know someone who is, go through it there. If you already have a Husky, what's the one thing you wish someone had told you before?

@Tereza Škraňka Procházková another thing that's interesting about mine is that he's so quiet he doesn't howl he barks maybe once a year and it's just one "woof" (not counting sleep he talks in his sleep) but like when he goes after an animal in the yard, there's never a warning he's just in motion.

@Tereza Škraňka Procházková often times Bo will stare at me and move his mouth like he's trying to talk, but I visited a wolf rescue recently and apparently wolves do this a lot. They click their teeth in various ways to communicate.

Welcome to the furry piece of the internet. And pls drop some lines below this thread. 🐺 What brought you here? 🐺 Do you already have a Husky, are you considering one, or are you here because you love the breed? 🐺 What’s one thing you’d love to understand better? If you have a dog, we obviously need a photograph. This is very important research. 🤣 Tell us their name, age and something that makes them unmistakably THEM. If you don’t have a Husky, tell us what attracts you to them and what you’re still unsure about. And if you work with dogs, I’d love to hear about your work and your experience with the breed. One little reminder: this is a public community. Share your country or general region if you like, but keep addresses, phone numbers and readable dog-tag details out of your posts. You don’t need an impressive introduction. We just want to meet you. ❤️

Back in 2019 the youngest member of the family became obsessed, in the way that kids do (I never grew out of this) They wanted a Siberian Husky. Maybe it was from watching Balto. Maybe it was something else. It wasn't Game of Thrones because we could never get the kid to watch a boring grownup show anyway. But, perhaps due to the popularity of that show, there is a large number of abandoned Huskies where we live. (Breeders here have a very bad reputation here because there are millions of unwanted dogs. This is perhaps unfair, but the scale of the problem is enormous) I happened to find that there was a rescue just a few miles from where we live, call Luna Siberian Rescue, named for the founder's first dog. Meanwhile in searching around I did see Bo on a petfinder website. He was in another city pretty far away. And we had not yet decided to get a dog at that time. I did end up calling Luna Siberian Rescue about another dog that they had. We went through their screen process and then they told us that the dog we called on had already been adopted, but that she thought I should meet Bo. I was surprised because I already knew about Bo, but did not think that he was up here. It turns out they had picked him up from the shelter where he was at and brought him into their rescue. And so that's how we ended up actually adopting that first dog that I had seen and wanted to get, myself. I must've just been drawn to him somehow. Here's Bo in his natural state. The second photo is the first day we met him.
