📚 How a Book Giveaway Can Create Real Buzz
If you’re looking for a simple way to get more eyes on your book, grow your audience, and build excitement… a giveaway is one of the easiest strategies you can use. It works because people love free stuff...but more importantly, they love sharing opportunities to win. That means your book starts reaching people outside your current audience without you needing ads or a big following. A giveaway isn’t just about giving away a few copies. It’s about creating momentum. When done right, it can bring in new followers, spark conversations, and drive traffic back to your Amazon listing. 🚀 How to Run a Simple Giveaway You don’t need anything complicated. Pick one platform (Instagram or TikTok are great for this) and create a post announcing your giveaway. Show your book clearly, make it feel exciting, and tell people exactly what they can win and when it ends. A little urgency goes a long way here....give it a clear deadline like 2–5 days. Then keep your entry steps simple but intentional: - Follow your account - Like the post - Comment (this boosts engagement and reach) - Optional: tag a friend for extra exposure Every comment and tag helps push your post out to more people, which is where the real growth happens. 🔥 How to Get Even Better Results If you want to take it a step further, you can encourage people to share your post to their story or send them to a simple email signup. That way, you’re not just getting engagement...you’re building an audience you can reach again later. When the giveaway ends, announce the winner publicly and follow through quickly. This builds trust and shows people your giveaways are real, which makes future ones even more effective. At the end of the day, you’re not just giving away books...you’re creating attention around your book. And attention is what leads to clicks, readers, and sales. If you’ve been sitting on your book and wondering how to get more traction, try this. It’s simple, it works, and you can set it up in less than 15 minutes 👀

I would love to be a part of that process with my poetry books, as an example!
Self-publishing my poetry books
Hi everyone! How is everyone doing? Hope all is well with everybody here! My name is Michael Teferi, I am a BIPOC Poet, Writer, Positive Psychology Coach, and a Debut Poetry Book Author. I am looking to self-publish my poetry books and use Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) to connect with inspired readers. I am Al, about inspiring readers readily, realizing their dreams boldly, and acting collectively towards a strong sense of belonging. My first poetry book is called “Transformation: Way of creating one’s life anew”, and my second poetry book is called “Connection: Enjoying and appreciating life fully”. My third in the trilogy as my poetry book will eventually be called “Phenomenal: Being who one is born to be”, and this is in process as we speak, so I have 25 poems thus far and I will complete my third poetry book next month in April 2026. My aunt and Dennis, the Life Enrichment Manager here at Birmingham Green nursing home, are going to be talking and conversing next week about my self-publishing my poetry books and using Amazon KDP going forward. Is there anyone here who is willing and interested in connecting with me in regards to creating an author website where Incan connect with inspired readers via my poetry and poetry books? Please let me know! FYI, my Substack has my poetry on the following link: https://romanticsinger24.substack.com, my YouTube channel is @romanticsinger24, and my Instagram profile handle is also @romanticsinger24. Hope to hear back from you sometime soon everyone!
My Birthday is Tomorrow 🎂🎁🚀
I just want to give a huge shoutout to my friends who have really been helping me grow this community. Earlier today I asked in a few groups for a *Birthday Wish* for people to send over a few community members. Now we are just 5 members away from hitting the 800-member goal for Q1, and I am feeling like we are 100% going to hit the target. @Liisa Reimann Thanks for sending over @Chelena Peart who has been a real rockstar ✨ from the moment she came into the community today and brought over a bunch of her friends. 💖 Also big hugs to @Rasheed Hooda for also giving me a birthday shoutout and bringing over some of his connections too. Also appreciate @Sybil Hall for also featuring me today. 👉 AFFILIATE IS ON: Everyone is welcome to invite their friends. If you have someone who would love to learn self-publishing, send them over. 💖 Thanks to everyone else who has been supportive here. I'm grateful to have you all!

8 Ways to Promote Your Book (Basically FREE)
A lot of people think you need a huge budget to sell books… You don’t. If you’re willing to show up consistently, there are so many ways to get your book in front of people without spending much (or anything at all). 8 𝐖𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐞 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐁𝐨𝐨𝐤 (𝐁𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐅𝐑𝐄𝐄) 👇 1. 𝐋𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐄𝐱𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐍𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 - Start with the people who already know you. Post on your personal Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn—don’t overthink it. People want to support you, they just need to know your book exists. 2. 𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐭-𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐦 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭 - (TikTok, Reels, Shorts)This is one of the fastest ways to get visibility right now. Talk about your book, your story, lessons from it, or even behind-the-scenes of publishing. One video can bring in consistent traffic. 3. 𝐎𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐳𝐞 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐀𝐦𝐚𝐳𝐨𝐧 𝐋𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 (SEO matters!)Amazon is a search engine. Your title, subtitle, and keywords should match what people are already searching for. This alone can bring in daily organic sales. 4. 𝐆𝐨 𝐨𝐧 𝐏𝐨𝐝𝐜𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐬 - Find podcasts that align with your topic and pitch yourself as a guest. Share your story, your expertise, and naturally mention your book. This builds authority and gets you in front of new audiences. 5. 𝐋𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐍𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐩𝐬 & 𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐆𝐢𝐠𝐬 - Look for local meetups, business groups, libraries, or events where you can speak or connect with people. Bring copies of your book or simply talk about it—real-life connections convert. 6. 𝐆𝐨 𝐋𝐢𝐯𝐞 & 𝐓𝐚𝐥𝐤 𝐀𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐁𝐨𝐨𝐤 - Host a quick live training, Q&A, or story behind why you wrote the book. Lives build trust fast and give people a reason to check it out. 7. 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐖𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐎𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐬 - Partner with other creators, podcasters, or community owners. Do guest trainings, interviews, or shoutouts. You get in front of a brand new audience for free. 8. 𝐁𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐆𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬 - Offer free copies of your book (digitally or paperback) to get it into more hands. This can help spark reviews, word-of-mouth, and momentum—especially early on. You don’t need to do all 8 at once. Pick 2–3 and stay consistent… that’s where the momentum starts.

@Krista Brea Hi Krista! How are you doing? Hope you’re doing well! This is Michael Teferi, by the way. I love this post! As far as my 2-3 choices are concerned, I would choose the following: a) Leverage Your Existing Network, b) Go Live & Talk About Your Book, and c) Book Giveaways! Please let me know your thoughts and opinions about these with me!

@Krista Brea I feel you! I definitely have been talking and conversing with my social network about my poetry books. That’s pivotal! I really want to get people’s attention, no question about it! I wonder whether it would be a good idea to try doing so on Instagram. Would this work in my favor, Krista?
