Addiction
Hello parents. If you're here then you're doing the right thing. How many of you have kids who are legitimately addicted to their phones, games or tech? I do and its killing me inside that it has gotten this far. My son is failing 6th grade because he is constantly gaming on his laptop instead of doi g work while at school and he has been caught just last week, 4 times , 4 days in a row. Any suggestions?

That's a great start Jenise. Check out the family videos in the Classroom Tab. Watch the videos with them and then start setting rules with the contract. You Got This, Det. Mike

Safe(r) Minecraft in 3 steps…
My boys have been on Minecraft for years but there was a process to get them there. They had to understand the dangers of playing online and we had to set the rules for them to be online. We have gone through these 3 steps and the youngest are still not on level 3. Level 1. LAN (Local Area Network) Players can play together if they are on the same WiFi. Nobody is in ther world except for those connected to their WiFi. Very safe but the cannot play with friends who are not in your home. Level 2. Private Server I pay for a private server so just my boys and their friends can play. I limit who can be on there to just those approved and boot someone if I need to. Tip. Make sure the server is set up as private so random people cannot join (lesson learned). There are websites out there that list open minecraft servers. Level 3. Public Servers This is limited in my house but you can set up Minecraft on public servers so no one can text and voice chat is turned off. This is the least safe but manageable if you prepare your children. If you want your children to prepare your child to know the dangers, know what to do if they meet a predo and learn about private servers (my #1 choice) just checkout the Minecraft guide in the classroom section. https://www.skool.com/csf/classroom/ca0298a1?md=33ec700886b54382aca9945494f8f573 Det. Quick question for iPhone parents…
When’s the last time you checked your parental controls? I’m asking because most parents THINK they have their kid’s iPhone locked down. But here’s what I see all the time: One setting gets missed. One permission gets overlooked. And suddenly their kid has access to things you never intended. It’s not your fault. Apple hides some of the most important settings in weird places. I was recently on a podcast with Ben Gillenwater, the Family I.T. Guy Ben has put together a quick step-by-step guide that walks you through every single setting you need to check. No tech degree needed. Just clear screenshots and simple instructions. Check it out here: bit.ly/CSSITGUY You got this, Det Mike
