Will the laser run be 4 rounds of shooting or the new style 5 rounds of shooting? Thanks!
The 2026 Season is Officially Underway!!
This past weekend kicked off the first Regional event of the year at the Peachtree Pentathlon in Atlanta, GA, which saw its largest turnout to date with more than 40 athletes competing, including international athletes from Ecuador. The energy was high as athletes across multiple divisions began their season and tested their fitness early in the year. In the Senior Women’s competition, Rebecca Langrehr took the top spot, followed by Cassandra Steptoe in 2nd place and Ingrid Mayer rounding out the podium in 3rd. The Senior Men’s race saw Temirkhan Sabdenbek claim 1st place, with Luke Filar finishing 2nd and Hayden Marrs taking 3rd to complete a strong opening podium for the season. While competition was heating up in the U.S., several American athletes were also competing internationally at the Hungarian Indoor Open in Budapest. Tristen Bell advanced to the Finals after finishing 11th in his qualifying group and posting the 2nd fastest Laser Run of the round. Phaelen French, Mary Zoldak, and Jordan Towns also competed against a strong international field, gaining valuable early-season experience, but did not advance. Congratulations to all of our athletes for kicking off the season with strong performances both at home and abroad. The road to an exciting 2026 season has begun!

New to the Sport
Hello! My name is Jackson Hazen, I am a 23 year old based out of Mechanicsburg, PA, and I am interested in learning more about the sport and getting started. I have a background in distance running and swimming, having done both throughout highschool and college, and I am curious about how I can learn the other disciplines, like lazer pistol and fencing, and if anyone has any tips for someone who is brand new to the sport. Any advice is appreciated! Thanks!

Hey Jackson, i came from a similar background. I’d say find a fencing club and prioritize that. It’ll take the longest to develop so find a way to enjoy it 👍🏻
Modern Pentathlon Press Podcast
This is exciting — and honestly, this is exactly the kind of athlete-led initiative that strengthens a sport from the inside out. We’re proud to share that two of our USAPM athletes, Cass Steptoe and Dani Martin, have launched a new podcast: Modern Pentathlon Press — a show dedicated entirely to the world of pentathlon. The podcast covers event recaps, rule changes, historical perspectives, athlete interviews, and thoughtful discussions about where our sport is headed. It’s an authentic, athlete-driven voice that adds depth and energy to the modern pentathlon community. One of the most powerful things we can do as a community is support initiatives that grow awareness and tell our story. Pentathlon is a complex, evolving sport — especially as we move into the LA28 era — and platforms like this help educate fans, engage new audiences, and celebrate the athletes who make it all happen. Whether you're a youth athlete, parent, coach, official, or supporter, this podcast is a great way to stay informed and connected. We encourage all of our members to give Modern Pentathlon Press a listen, subscribe, and follow along. Share it with teammates and friends, and help amplify their work. Athlete-led storytelling strengthens our culture — and culture drives performance. Let’s support them and continue building momentum for our sport together. Congrats Cass and Dani!
