Competitive spirit vs. enabling
Everyone is so nice in here. I think that’s great some people respond well to positive encouragement. For the rest of us, let’s get our asses in gear and lock in! Let’s see what you have in the tank! No more excuses and sympathetic enabling. Tap into that competitive pickleball spirit and win! I personally hate loser talk and coddling when I fail. I need a wake up call and some accountability. So if you need to hear it, “quit being a wuss, get the f$&k back up, and do it”. Am I the only one?

@Brian Hartney get at it man! This is what I’m talking about! I played for 7 hours two weekends ago and had to run and get my knee brace and a pinch or two of salt so I could keep playing. I’m a big guy but I move like an NFL lineman crossed with Beverly Hills ninja. Nothing makes me happier than people underestimating me because of my size and then when they try to lob me like I’m some regular old man. Good luck with that! I want to go hard on this challenge and hopefully continue to go hard after and have a testimony to encourage others with. I’m genX and I’m used to go hard or go home mentality.

Why single arm DB instead of double arm? Just asking no judging. I’d personally fall off the bench, lol. DB incline bench is my favorite lift. Only slight incline though. It’s how I can make my pecs dance.
Knees over toes guy
I don't have a treadmill, i just do hill walks backwards in my driveway each day. After two weeks, I no longer have to wear a knee brace when playing pickleball. This is magic for people who are heavy and play pickleball. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/6EhaDP7WKG0

I’m excited to get started with all of you. I’ll be doing ketovore—that’s strict carnivore during the week with fasting, and a more relaxed low-carb keto approach on the weekends. I have a thyroid issue, so I have to be almost perfect with my diet or I won’t lose weight. I know weight loss is largely about managing insulin, so I’ll be working in one to two fasting days each week and supplementing with a high-quality salt to avoid cramps and headaches. I’m still pretty heavy, and pickleball can be rough on my knees, so I’ll be doing daily sled work along with PT exercises, plus a morning ruck with 35–50 lbs for 30–60 minutes before work. Evenings will be pickleball and kids’ sports, either at the club or outdoor courts. My play style is more ping-pong based with almost no tennis background, but I do have a racquetball background. I need to develop a more consistent drive and generate better speed from the baseline—so the focus is stronger knees, losing weight, and more consistent drive speed.

I wonder if anything special is happening on the first official check in! Goodies? Video chat? Prizes? Also, seeing people excited energy and early success will push that competitive discipline into high gear!
