South Carolina Clay Conference
I’m currently deep in pottery heaven at the SC Clay Conference in Newberry and y’all… the potters here are AMAZING. We’ve got 160 clay-loving humans all geeking out together over everything pottery — tools, techniques, shop talk, and those magical conversations that only happen when potters get in a room together 🤍 Our guest potters this year are the incredible Martha Grover and Julia Galloway — truly inspiring to watch, listen to, and learn from. Between demonstrations, hands-on instruction, thoughtful discussions, and yes… RAFFLES (because prizes 😉😘), my creative cup is OVERFLOWING. This is the kind of clay community that reminds me why I love what we do — learning, sharing, laughing, and getting our hands dirty together. If you ever get the chance to attend, do NOT hesitate 🐷✨ Back to geeking out with my people 🏺💛

Wish I could've gone. 😔
First Great Pottery Throwdown Challenge!
Hey! Have you been watching TGPT? Well, I am addicted, so I decided to join in the fun (I wish I lived there so I could try out for the show - I would sooo do it!). The first challenge was to design and throw a Winter themed Soup Turine, ladle, and 2 matching bowls depicting something from your family. If you don’t know, we live on a farm and have lots of chickens, ducks, and geese (among other furry friends 😉 on the farm!). So, my soup turine depicts a few of my feathered friends on it! I have not thrown on my wheel in a bit, due to back surgeries, etc - was nice to see that I could do it! I hope it survives the kiln - not finished til it survives the glaze kiln! Crossing fingers and toes! Stay Muddy! Paula PS Made a video of the challenge - just need to edit it!

Hard Winter Freeze this weekend!
Hey! Do not forget to make sure you store your clays and glazes in a safe space that cannot freeze! My studio is separate from my house - I just recently got heat and air! So, I will be leaving my heat on while I am not in my studio so nothing freezes! Just a reminder! Where are you located? South Carolina looks like a lot of freezing rain. I will be watching for our power to go out (no fun!). If this happens, I will definitely be bringing my clay and glazed inside my house. Stay warm and safe out there!

Same! I have a electric space heater but will use propane if need be. It's pretty scary time for us in SC, being we are just now recovering from Helene. Stay safe and warm!

I am a hand building potter in Ridge Spring, SC. I am a New Mexican native, so I am inspired by bright colors in landscapes and adore animals.
