When God Whispers in the Storm
Scripture: āThen He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, āPeace, be still!ā And the wind ceased and there was a great calm.ā Mark 4:39 (NKJV) There are days when the waves seem higher than your faith, and the wind louder than your prayers. You do all you know to doāpray, stand, believeābut the storm doesnāt break right away. Itās in these moments that we often cry out, āLord, donāt You care that Iām perishing?ā (Mark 4:38). But notice something powerful: Jesus didnāt panic. He didnāt shout over the storm. He spoke into it. One commandāāPeace, be stillāāand the chaos bowed to His authority. The truth is, Jesus was never absent from the boat. He was just silent until the right moment. The same is true for you today. His silence isnāt His absenceāitās His strength at rest, waiting for the perfect time to move. Sometimes God doesnāt calm the storm right away because Heās teaching your heart to find peace in the storm. He wants your faith to learn the rhythm of His whisper, not the roar of your fear. If youāre in a storm today, take a deep breath and remember: The same voice that spoke the universe into existence is in your boat. The same hands that stilled the sea holds your heart. The same love that went to the cross is still fighting for your peace. You donāt have to shout to reach Him. You only have to trust the whisper that says, āIām here.ā Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank You that even when the waves rise and I feel small, You are still in control. Teach me to listen for Your whisper in the wind. Calm my anxious thoughts and fill me with Your peace. I trust that You are working, even when I cannot see it. In Your Holy Name, amen.
