Resistance
Have you ever had the best intentions to transform your life and business? 🌟 You really want to launch a new product this year, yet you are stuck. Time passes, and no journal or planner is created. 😓 You see others celebrating their launches while your idea is still just that…only an idea. You are not alone…you most likely are faced with “resistance.” 💭 I want to share something with you that has made a significant difference for me when facing the challenge of Resistance, especially when it comes to creating my own products. A few years ago, I read the book "The War of Art" by Steven Pressfield, and I've learned to recognize and combat the feeling. Resistance is an internal force that prevents you from pursuing your goals, often manifesting as procrastination, fear, self-doubt, or distractions. 😟 In my journey, there are times when the weight of Resistance feels overwhelming, making it difficult to stay motivated and productive. This feeling can be particularly strong when working on new products. We all experience these feelings; it is a very natural human experience. It is also a very human experience to not live up to our dreams. So what can we do to not have our dreams robbed by “resistance”? I've found strategies that help me push through: 1. Acknowledging Resistance: Just as Pressfield suggests in his book, I acknowledge that Resistance is a natural part of the creative process. Recognizing it helps me not to feel alone or uniquely burdened. 2. Future-Self Mindset: I remind myself that if I give into my natural human fears, I’ll never live the life I dream of. I switch my mindset to “Thrive” mode. Meaning, I remind myself of why I want to create my products and what my goals are. I do it for “future me.” 🚀 3. Deadline: I set myself deadlines - without them, nothing happens. ⏳ 4. Intense Sprints: I know I am not consistent as a person. My clients and I thrive when they have short periods of focused work on a project. I find that 4 to 6 weeks is the perfect time to create a new product. 🏃‍♀️ 5. Accountability: When I am working with others, like my team or my clients, I find myself so motivated, and it’s so much easier for me to overcome resistance and just do it. 💼

This is so helpful Laura, and so true! I recently read the book The Mountain is You, and it talks about self sabotage and the truth behind why we actually do it (and it can often disguise itself as procrastination etc). Knowing this has made me have more of a 'get n with it' focus now, with clearer action plans to follow so that I don's stall or overthink at the various stages.
Momentum & Self-Sabotage
This Monday, I had surgery, and what I thought would be a pretty quick recovery and smooth sailing…turned out to be a lot more challenging to handle. It’s been a few painful days in bed, and this is why I have also been quiet I found myself in a really vulnerable place, while I wanted to do all the things for my businesses, I noticed I couldn’t. Even if those things are “simple,” like sending a few messages. I gave myself some grace and rest, and while I am not back to normal, I am doing a lot better. That's, however, not the reason why I am posting. I've had a few AHAs and I would love to share with you. ONE: Momentum & Self-sabotage It’s June 13th, and while it’s not yet the middle of the month quite yet, I feel like I lost four days, and that thought did something with me. I felt like my momentum toward my month’s goals was gone, and a voice in my head started to talk me out of goals. It sounded like: “Now is just not a good time” “Why is it even important to you? It doesn’t matter that much” “You can do it another time” While these thoughts can all be rationalized, given how I felt this week, they might even be “reasonable”. The issue is that self-sabotage often disguises itself as an “understanding friend”. Makes it so hard to recognize and catch in the act. …and see it’s harm. Giving up on my goals might give me short term relief but it hurts me in the long run. Let’s also keep in mind. Why would I give up with over 2.5 weeks left for the month? Yes, I had a rough few days… That is life, though. It shows how that inner voice can quickly lead us to quietly give up before having even fully tried. REALLY tried. Perfect conditions for our goals are not to be expected…ever. If we wait for perfect conditions… we will never even start, lose momentum, and eventually self-sabotage. I got all philosophical and even emotional about it today 😅😂 Over the years, I have interacted with 1000s of people online, and one thing I saw many do: >>>Wait for perfect conditions to start their business. <<<

Reviewing Laura's Journal
I remember seeing an e-mail about buying and reviewing Laura's latest Journal and getting a launch excel sheet as a thank you. Now that I want to act on it, I cannot find it. If you know the email I am talking about, please could you forward it to me to [email protected]. Thank you :)
