I almost didn't start AI consulting
Not because I didn’t believe AI was big. Because I didn’t believe I was ready. For months, I had a folder on my desktop called “Business Ideas.” Every few weeks I’d open it, watch more videos, save more posts… Then close it again. The story in my head was always the same: “Who are you to charge for this?” “There are people way smarter than you.” “You need more proof first.” So I stayed in learning mode. But learning can become hiding real fast. What changed everything was one conversation with a business owner friend. He wasn’t asking for some insane AI agent architecture. He just wanted someone to explain: - what AI could actually help with - what was a waste of time - and where to even start That’s when it clicked that most business owners are not even looking for the #1 AI expert on earth. They’re just looking for clarity and If you can solve confusion, simplify decisions, and help someone save time or make money, you already have value. You do not need to be the smartest person in the room. You need to be useful. Now, I strongly believe that the gap between where you are now and where someone else is… is already enough to help them. Still got a long way to go myself. But I’m way further ahead than the version of me who kept waiting to feel “ready.” If your story is even somewhat similar to this - Believe me, Just start.

@Todd Pillars trust me we all have been there some point in our journey! What business are you into?
The real problem with AI slop.
So I'm sure you guys have heard the term "AI slop", and everyone sorta defines it differently. Maybe you think it's those TikToks of AI-generated fruits going on dates. Maybe it's infographics with misspelled words. Maybe it's something else entirely. But I want to talk about it in the context of communication. Internal, external, content you put out into the world. I write my LinkedIn posts with AI. My agent knows my business, how I write, how I speak. That's just how I work now. And there's nothing wrong with that. I think everyone should be using AI to write if it makes them more efficient. But this isn't a binary yes or no. It's a spectrum. Sometimes AI can draft and send automatically. Most of the time, I want it to just draft. Then I review. If someone sends me an email with em dashes everywhere, I don't actually care at all that they used AI. The fact that I can clearly tell it's AI-generated isn't the problem. What I do start asking is: → Did they proofread this? → Is this completely accurate? And subconsciously, I might start losing trust. Not just in the email but in the person who sent it. Our job here has changed from writer to reviewer. This quote has really stuck with me: "You can outsource your thinking, but you can never outsource your understanding." When your name is attached to the content, you take credit if it lands, as you should. But that also means you need to take accountability if it's incorrect. Taste and reviewing are becoming more important than ever. AI is super intelligent and powerful, but I don't want to see a world where we trust AI so much, that we stop reviewing things, and then the human on the other end of the content starts losing trust in us. That's why even though I write with AI, and people know that, I still try my best to disguise it and make it sound as "Nate" as possible. Check out the LinkedIn post I just wrote about this HERE

I use the same framework. Always better to be in the loop rather than leaving it on AI 100%. One of the reasons I created my own AI OS
You Don’t Have to Be an Expert to Start Helping People
I recently had the opportunity to do my first AI training for a local entrepreneurs’ group I’m part of. It was a pretty basic introductory training on how small business owners can start using AI, but it was still a huge step for me. The opportunity came simply from mentioning that I work with AI. The business coach who runs the group heard that and asked if I’d be willing to teach a session on it. I definitely don’t see myself as an expert yet, but I realized I know enough to help business owners understand the basics, see what’s possible, and take a few practical next steps. And the best part is that now I’m on a lot more people’s radar. A few people came up afterward and said they’d be interested in meeting and having a conversation, so I’m hopeful some opportunities may come from it. I’m super grateful for people like Nate Herk and others who share so much valuable information for free. A lot of what I’ve learned has come from just watching, learning, implementing, and taking the next step. So I just wanted to encourage anyone else who feels like they’re “not ready yet.” You may not need to be 10 steps ahead. Sometimes you just need to be 1 or 2 steps ahead of the people you’re trying to help. Keep putting yourself out there. Mention what you’re doing. Share what you’re learning. You never know what doors might open. Here’s the video from the training if anyone wants to check it out and provide feedback: https://youtu.be/XwxLv4EdY1U Curious — has anyone else here had the chance to give an AI training or gotten an opportunity just from putting yourself out there?

From Civil Engineering to AI Consultancy — My Intro
Hi all, Mike here, based in Cumbria, England. I spent 20 years delivering major civil engineering and infrastructure projects before making a deliberate pivot into AI consultancy. I set up ClearBuild Consulting earlier this year, focused on practical AI implementation and independent AI audit services for UK SMEs. Three clients on board already with a couple more in the pipeline, so the momentum is building nicely. Been following Nate's channel for a while and rate it highly as one of the more honest, practical resources out there. Looking forward to connecting with like minded people!

@Michael Anderson I’m doing AI audits as well. Immediate value as you said. Would love some references if you have any
Built my AI assistant using CODEX
Just built my own AI assistant through Codex after watching Nate's course on building your AI operating system. Honestly one of the most practical AI videos I’ve watched because it actually made me build something instead of just consuming content. Started feeding it my writing style, workflows, and processes so it can help with all aspects of my business Crazy to see how fast this stuff is moving when you actually implement it instead of just watching from the sidelines.
