KayKay’s Tip: Helping Your Child Recognize Their Name
A child’s name is one of the first words they should learn to recognize. Always write it correctly, using one uppercase letter followed by lowercase letters. Ask the child to choose a favorite sticker or small picture. Place the same sticker beside their name on each labeled item. At first, the child may recognize the sticker, but with daily repetition, they will begin recognizing the letters and eventually their entire name. Ways to Practice at Home Place your child’s name and favorite sticker on their: ● Bedroom door ● Toy box ● Crayon box ● Cup or water bottle ● Backpack ● Lunchbox ● Coat hook ● Favorite book basket ● Name card at the table Each time you see the label, point to it and say, “This says Ben,” or use your child’s name. Ways to Practice in Pre-K Place each child’s name and favorite sticker on their: ● Desk or table space ● Cubby ● Chair ● Crayon box ● Glue bottle ● Pencil box ● Folder ● Name tag ● Lunchbox area ● Coat or backpack hook ● Classroom job chart ● Attendance board Teachers can also use name cards during attendance, center time, classroom jobs, and dismissal. Just a few minutes of practice each day can make a big difference. With repetition and consistency, children can quickly begin recognizing their names! Just a few minutes of practice each day can make a big difference! Love, KayKay ❤️

Welcome to KayKay’s Learning Academy and Meet Her Team
Hello, and welcome! I’m Brenda Burdine, an early childhood education specialist, curriculum author, and former kindergarten teacher with decades of experience helping young children build a strong foundation for lifelong learning. Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of teaching children, mentoring educators, and developing early childhood curriculum used by families and classrooms across the United States and Puerto Rico. I created KayKay’s Learning Academy because I believe every child deserves a strong foundation, and that foundation begins long before a child ever walks into a Pre-K or Kindergarten classroom. KayKay’s Learning Academy is more than a course, it’s a growing early childhood learning community and curriculum designed to help parents, grandparents, caregivers, teachers, and homeschool families build that strong foundation from a child’s earliest years through Pre-K and Kindergarten. Whether you’re introducing colors to a two-year-old, preparing a preschooler for Pre-K, or helping a kindergartener strengthen important academic skills, you’ll find practical lessons, engaging activities, printable resources, and proven teaching strategies that make learning meaningful, enjoyable, and effective. Meet Your Learning Team: Learning is always more fun with friends! ❤️ KayKay is our cheerful teacher who loves helping children learn through stories, songs, games, and hands-on activities. 💙 Ben is curious and adventurous. He loves asking questions, solving problems, exploring science, and discovering how the world works. 💜 Sally loves books, art, music, crafts, and creative play. She encourages imagination, confidence, kindness, and a lifelong love of learning. Together, KayKay, Ben, and Sally inspire children to learn, explore, and grow every day. What You’ll Find Inside: Our learning journey begins by teaching parents, grandparents, caregivers, teachers, and homeschool families how to teach children ages 2–4 through fun, hands-on activities that fit naturally into everyday life. These lessons are designed to help adults build the strong foundation every young child needs before entering Pre-K.
