Next Session
Since @Mingwei Liu , @Friedrich Hennecke , and @Manik Sharma showed interest in reviewing their work in our next session, please vote on your availability below. I'll find a time slot that works for all three of you. Everyone else is welcome to vote as well so I can check general availability & intrest :) (Aiming for a 1hour 30 call) @Mingwei Liu - If you can share an initial tries of your Sketch-to-AI workflow with me in advance, I can prepare feedback on how to optimize it for better results. Can be quick try with any tool to check how you would approach it first. @Manik Sharma -A first draft of your story concept would be great to send me beforehand as well for the group to explore. With this as a base, I could share nicely what works (and what doesn't) when generating videos with current tools from my past months of experience with it. @Friedrich Hennecke Fine from your side, I got the model and will show how to judge and optimise proportions by grabbing most low hanging fruits. I think its a nice mix of relevant content. If you have any collegues/friends/fellow students that you think This would help too, share the word. Looking forward. Max

@ChihChi Chang yes I agree too , nonetheless this should be a room of exchange rather than another platform consuming content. So I will think about how to do it.

@Manik Sharma I think the images look great! Although I’m not managing I will still give some of my thoughts where I see missed opportunities. If I’d have to be super critical the following points are what I’d think about to optimise the “story feeling“ creating a complete scenario. I am sure you have additional beauty shots to show design purely. Let’s call it “a record day on the salt lake” - you could implement some sort of timeline feeling to create the illusion of passing time (could be weather changes - car getting dirtier or patched up with duct tape or aerodynamically optimised with DiY parts towards the end of the day. - Showing unloading scene from a trailer / the arrival at the base camp - Showing a few more imperfections in both car and people around, people in the salt lake might use sun blocking structures, there might be a dusty wind during the day or other things that give the unpleasant feeling for humans in this environment. - Camera angles that look more truely captured ( phone footage , drone footage, selfie with the car etc after record run, etc) So all in all it’s mainly using these new great tools making the story look more real rather than another set of beauty images. Again very high level pickiness and just some thoughts on the story level, not design related at all. Good job 👏 definitely cool project

AI in portfolio
I am a little curious to learn a little about how you guys communicate what's been used AI for in projects/portfolio. Could imagine it's quite important to make it clear what's what? Or is it just like using Photoshop over markers? How do you present the work? How do you lay it out and communicate it? Right now it's sketch -> photoshop -> 3D render/viz. But when AI starts to become more of a tool throughout the process for testing ideas and designs I'm not sure what would be the most appropriate way of showing it. What's your guys experiences with this?

However you come to the result, some people still care. Call them purists … I personally don’t. If your final result, either being a model, a sketch or an ai viz is stunning but mainly from an Idea / taste perspective I’ll value it. The process how you get there doesn’t matter for me whenever I check portfolios. If it’s visible that the ideas were created by Ai, you did a mistake. However some people still care and that’s mainly dependent on the individuals you apply to. From my personal experience of the past 7 years no management / executive ever really cared how the result was created , even if it was the “dirtiest” workflow imaginable. Your task consists mainly of taking pressure off the shoulder of the person above you. The faster and better you do it in high quality the better. Marking your work as AI is kind of pointless since at this point you can create a sketch manually and then a dozen of them in your same style p.e.: I only see necessary for viz jobs I assume (which will not exist in the very near future imho anyways) TLDR: screw it - good portfolios are selected by taste and result - not how you got there, imho If you have questions/specific examples feel free to post them to me or below the next calls sketch selection
