Thought for the Day
"In the writings of Bahá’u’lláh we find that He 'abolishes the institution of priesthood; prohibits slavery, asceticism, mendicancy, monasticism, penance, the use of pulpits and kissing of hands; prescribes monogamy; condemns cruelty to animals, idleness and sloth, backbiting and calumny; censures divorce; interdicts gambling, the use of opium, wine and other intoxicating drinks... stresses the importance of marriage and lays down its essential conditions; imposes the obligation of engaging in some trade or profession, exalting such occupation to the rank of worship; emphasizes the necessity of providing the means for the education of children...' "The chief principle of Bahá’u’lláh's teachings is 'the oneness and wholeness of the human race.' This is the pivotal point of all that He taught." From the Introduction to the book, "Gleanings from the Writings of Bahá’u’lláh" by W. Kenneth Christian How does this resonate with you?

@Ken Hyra Really great point. When I first read through this quote I saw them as all separate things even though they all contribute to the oneness and wholeness of humankind. But they are all equally important even the daily cruelties. I appreciate the emphasis on living in a way that reflects love, integrity, and concern for others. Those are qualities that people from many different faiths can admire and strive to practice. Thank you @Kamal Ali for sharing this quote and for encouraging a respectful discussion.
