How do you get your story into conversation without it all being about you. Let's start simple: 1- Ask others about them. 2- Connect their story with yours. 3- Take it straight back to them. This is tried and tested and works every time. What might happen: 1- They just continue to talk about themselves. 2- They stop talking about themselves and ask more about what you just shared. 3- They shut down because you interrupted their flow. What should you do?: 1- Ask them for more detail, to go deeper, to explain more - show interest and they'll love you for it because most people love talking about themselves. Just don't become that person yourself (yet). 2- Tell them "I'm more interested in what you were you were saying about.....Carry on" 3- They may be offended by your interruption but that's okay. You can fix this. "Anyway, you haven't told me nearly enough about.......Tell me more!" The human state is naturally selfish. When you give someone space enough to be selfish, and even encourage it, you build 'credits of trust'. You can cash these in later but you need to give the investment time to mature.

Hello Kim! First off, your journey sounds incredible. Anyone who has spent 30+ years navigating multinational companies, entrepreneurship, and the evolution of technology clearly has a wealth of wisdom and experience to share. I’m Maurice, an award-winning podcaster, entrepreneur coach, and business consultant who helps people amplify their voice, purpose, and impact through business, podcasting, and personal growth. What really connects us is that we both seem to understand the power of reinvention and staying curious. You’ve built a career in tax and business while still leaning into new technology and now stepping into authorship with your aromatherapy recipe book. I love that because it shows growth never really stops. I’m also very interested in AI and how it can help people create, build, and scale ideas in ways we never imagined before. I’ll definitely be following your journey because “a recipe book with a twist” already has my attention!
