I think playing is super important for kids and I see how our kids learn a lot through online games, but for sure as well from offline too. For the online part I created my own website to help them play & learn more. Offline I do it for example with broken tech stuff that we rip apart and learn more about the inside

@James Colistra Here you go: https://kids.faithful-automation.com/ It's by all means not finished, but I'm working on it. Currently more games, later accounts & membership as well as testing the upload function, probably more AI in the background. Ideas are there 😅
Storytelling
Here are seven storytelling techniques you could use on a podcast, with examples. 1. Open loops: An unfinished thought that makes people need the ending. "Last year I made a decision that cost my company $50,000. It turned out to be the best investment I ever made." You don't say what the decision was. Not yet. 2. Curiosity gap: The space between what someone knows and what they want to know. "I spent 10 years at Forbes. The biggest lesson had nothing to do with media." Now everyone wants to know what it was about. 3. Relatable characters: People connect to people, not concepts. Weak: "Our marketing strategy wasn't working." Strong: "Mike was the VP of Marketing. Every Monday he walked into the leadership meeting, sweating through his white dress shirt, with a new dashboard and a growing sense of panic." Now you can picture Mike. 4. Emotional contrast: The swing is the story. "At 8 a.m. I was convinced my business was finished. By 5 p.m. we'd landed the biggest client in company history." Bigger swing, better story. 5. Narrative tension: Uncertainty pulls people forward. "We had one week of cash left. Payroll was due Friday. And our biggest customer still hadn't paid." You want to know what happens. 6. Specific details: Specificity feels true. Weak: "I was nervous." Strong: "I refreshed my inbox 27 times, by the time the reporter wrote back, I had finished off an entire box of Cheez-Its." "27" does more work than "very." 7. Metaphor: It makes an unfamiliar idea click. “AI is like a brilliant intern with a photographic memory and zero common sense. Give it directions to make you cheesecake, and it will hand you a block of parmesan with chocolate frosting." The strongest stories run several of these at once. "Two weeks after being laid off from Forbes, I was sitting at my kitchen table staring at a spreadsheet. I had exactly 94 days of runway before I'd need another job. What happened next changed how I think about building a business." That's a relatable character, specific details (kitchen table, 94 days), emotional contrast, tension, an open loop, and a curiosity gap. Six techniques, three sentences.

Thank you for sharing! That's a good read. I came across the channel of the school of hard knocks and really enjoyed watching some clips there. As he's interviewing millionaires and billionaires, sometimes they tell him straight: "Great question" and of course they themselves have good stories to tell as well. For me it covers multiple aspects: - short lessons about income & business - life tips & habits mastery - a stretch & mirror for my own life For me, your tips sound like a great explanation & summary. Thanks!

I was dragging my feet but you can now start watching videos in the classroom. Please share feedback and let me know what you think is missing.

@Jon Hord I can see that. Not that we were looking for it, but we moved a couple times and like with other things, you start feeling more comfortable from a mindset perspective. It still is a lot, this time even more, but habits make it easier & experience stacks up. When is your move?

@Jon Hord thank you. Have a great time setting down the road! 😎
To Record, or Not To Record
I just announced Story Hour starting next Friday at 9am EST. It will be like storytelling practice in a casual environment over coffee. Should we record these calls, or no? What do you think?

I'm always happy with recordings simply because of time zones, easier with watching it faster if necessary (don't know about your speaking speed 😉), however I do understand it's more personal to have people on a call and knowing not everything goes "into the internet somewhere".

@James Colistra Thank you! Yes, that's a great summary. I totally agree, now with raising kids, it becomes even more clear: They will change, they will develop, investing in them is the way to go. Surroundings will change, times will change, but the planted seeds will grow.
