A quick check-in (and an honest question)…
I want to pause the ā€œteachingā€ for a second and just check in. Whether you’re • still outlining • halfway through a draft • sitting on something you finished months (or years) ago • or quietly stuck and not sure why YOU belong here! One thing I’ve learned after writing 70+ kids’ books is this: progress rarely stops because of talent , it stops because of clarity. So here’s my question for you today šŸ‘‡ What feels hardest right now about your book? Not in general. Not long-term. Just right now. Is it: • finishing the ending • knowing who the book is really for • revisiting something you already published • confidence • time • or something else entirely? Drop one sentence in the comments. I’ll reply personally and help you think through the next small step — not the whole mountain. Sometimes momentum starts with being honest about where you’re standing.

Time seems to be the biggest issue for me right now. I'm used to doing long stretches of work but nowadays, only having a couple hours in the evening to really work on layouts, illustrations, scripts, etc. is taking some getting used to. But at the end of the day, the goal with my stories is to not only make it interesting and inviting for the kids to read but for the parents as well. You can probably name some books on your kid's shelf that you hope they don't pick for story time and then there's ones you actually low-key enjoy reading to them if they request it. That's kind of my thought process; make it enjoyable for both parties as much as possible.
What stage is your book actually in right now?
One thing I’ve noticed with almost every writer (myself included) is that we often think we’re stuck… when we’re really just unclear about where we are. So let’s ground this šŸ‘‡ Reply with the number that best fits you right now: 1ļøāƒ£ Idea in my head, not written yet 2ļøāƒ£ First draft in progress 3ļøāƒ£ First draft finished but something feels ā€œoffā€ 4ļøāƒ£ Revised + polished, unsure what’s next 5ļøāƒ£ Published but not reaching readers 6ļøāƒ£ Something else (tell us) No fixing. No pressure. Just clarity. I’ll reply with one focused suggestion for each of you based on where you are.

My name's Matthew and I saw your ad on Instagram. I looked you up to view some of your books and was impressed with the number of reviews and amount of sales, so I signed up. I've already self published a couple of kids books on Amazon a few years ago but never really pursued marketing them other than word-of-mouth, so I'm familiar with the process of making the books I just don't quite have the marketing part down. Still working on some new titles in the series between my day job and spending time with my family.
