Monthly Leaderboard Reward Starts January 🚀
Alright crew! Time to make this place even more valuable. From January, we’re launching a monthly leaderboard challenge: Whoever is the most active, helpful and engaged member each month wins a free 40-minute coaching session with me. That session can fix whatever you need: CV, portfolio, LinkedIn, job search, confidence… anything. We’ve got a few weeks left of December, so consider this the warm-up. So time to start getting involved now! Minimum requirement: You must hit a certain number of interactions/comments to be eligible. (I’ll announce the exact number in January.) Let’s build a proper community that shows up for each other and rewards it. Forward is forward. 👊🔥

@Sai Bhargav Godugu You're up to +20 already. What's it like all the way up there on the Leaderboard?
What’s One Win You Had This Week?
Doesn’t matter how big or small. A win is: • sending an application • rewriting a CV line • updating LinkedIn • adding a screenshot to your project • reaching out to someone new • even just getting out of bed and trying again Progress is progress. Drop ONE win below, something you’re proud of, even if it feels tiny. This community celebrates movement, not perfection.

I had a first stage interview with Warpfrog on Monday, happy to have made an initial shortlist for that😁 I've also tried really hard to spend some time painting Warhammer, instead of checking job sites constantly, so I am proud of that too (Sorry for putting 2)

@Darren Playford I just like the painting, never really got into the playing. I like painting Dark Angels space marines because I'm basic, but have a bunch of Grey Knights that I'm going to paint int the Dark Angels Terminators scheme because I'm a heretic
What is everyone’s next game?!
Happy Friday! Thought I’d kick this weekend off with some positive vibes and shift gears from the job hunt for a moment to ask everyone what game they’re about to play next. Usually when we talk about video games, we often talk about our current favourites, if not a game we just started playing. For me, the game up next is Yakuza Zero Directors Cut. Street brawls and powerful abilities called “heat actions”, this is a good ol’classic for me which just keeps getting better with more games in the series as well as remasters. So tell me, what’s next for you? What made you go for it? Is it new? Old? Remaster? Or even remake? Give us an answer in the comments and have a great weekend everyone!

I started playing Anno 117 when it came out, but haven't played anything in a couple of weeks so need to get back into it next week. I also bought Europa Universalis 5, need to allocate a good 2000 hours to get through the tutorial for that one though 😂

Hello everyone! I'm Matt and I have been working as a Unity Developer for over 8 years. I have worked a lot with enterprise clients building training, especially in VR, and most recently building VR games/experiences for mental health treatment. I've been struggling a lot finding another role with this type of work, which is a shame because I love it so much. When I apply for roles at games studios, I often hear "You haven't worked in a Games Studio" or "Released Games", when all of my work is shipped to clients and I work with games devs, artists and producers. I feel I have great experience, but maybe I amnot framing it correctly.

@Víctor Sánchez Your work looks really cool, great stuff. If I could make a suggestion, are you able to add a watermark on top of the Disney Speedstorm work, especially in the thumbnails? Would be useful to add a PlayStation mark and the engine logo on those works to make it super obvious that it was on Console.

Your CV doesn’t need to be perfect, it just needs to be clear. If you want some feedback, drop yours below (PDF, screenshot, or Google link). I’ll point out: • what stands out • what’s holding you back • the quickest wins • what recruiters REALLY look for No judgement. No shame. Everyone here is improving together. If you’re nervous about posting it publicly, send it privately, that’s fine too. Let’s get your CV working for you, not against you.

I am a Unity Developer, I have 8 years of experience, I recently worked as a Senior Unity Developer at University of Oxford building VR games for Mental Health Treatment Research. I studied Games Design and Production Management at University so have a wide range of skills, especially in commuincation. I'm looking for Unity Developer roles where I can have impact on projects and games. I struggle with getting my foot in the door at games studios as I often hear "You have no experience working at Games Studios"

Thanks @Darren Playford! I'll give it a quick tune up and make those bullets nice and concise but impactful. A quick question on the number of roles that I should put, I used to only list the last 3, or the most relevant few, and have more information, but had a recruiter suggest to me that I put all my jobs in and just have a quick line about older ones, when I went for a contract at Meta. Any thoughts on the number of roles to have on the CV? I did get an interview there so I guess that also answers the question.
