A Stoic Reminder That Might Contradict Itself...
"Waste no more time arguing what a good man should be. Be one." – Marcus Aurelius To me, this is a punch to the chest. Too many men talk about discipline, strength, or purpose… but few actually live it. And yes, even a post like this could seem to go against what Marcus said. Why talk about it at all? Because here in the Forge, we don’t debate to sound smart, we reflect so we can sharpen action. Words here are fuel, not fluff. Marcus is saying: stop debating, stop waiting, stop polishing your philosophy. A good man is proven by action, in the gym, at the table, with your family, with your word. That’s my take. Now I want to hear from you: 1. How do you interpret this quote? 2. What does being a good man look like in your daily life?

Appreciate my way will be different to others, as it should be, but here's my take: To me this speaks to the internal, nagging doubt that we all have from time to time. "Am I good enough?", "Why aren't I like that guy?", "When will my life be as good as this dude? ". Comparison is the thief of joy so they say, and the older I get the less I try to overthink things. I'm far happier trying and failing then I'll ever be from waiting, thinking and never taking action. These day's I judge my ability to be a good man by the way I provide. As a husband and father, I have my accountability at home. If my girls are happy, I'm happy. If they have what they need, I need for nothing. A life of service to others fulfils yourself most of all.
