My story: I started coding when I was 10 when I checked out the book "BASIC APPLE BASIC" from my middle school library. I had that book nonstop for 2 years - the librarian finally just gave it to me. As a young man, I got a degree in CS and joined the US Air Force, then worked as a professional software developer for 11 years in military, security, and healthcare domains. I enjoyed it at first, but one day realized I was depressed and bored with my work. I had lost the passion of that 10 year old boy. I decided to just quit. Actually, I decided to become broke and homeless on purpose - because I wanted to see what I was so scared of that could keep me locked into jobs that bored me. Turns out it's not that scary - but it is hard to get out of that situation. Learning to spiral up instead of down was a big revelation. Long story short - I figured it out, I now run my own coaching and consulting agency, teach and tutor coders and build software for contract. My goals: I want to get better at teaching & vibe coding (which to me is just coding with a lot of help on syntax, thank God) I want to make that video game I've always dreamed of, and use my skills to build money-making systems that support me and my family. And I want to share what I learn so others can do the same! What I can teach: I've been doing software for so long, I have a lot of mental habits and heuristics that I think would be a big help to people just getting started. As a coach and consultant, I've gotten good at teaching people at every skill level, so I really just want to work to help people get better at the craft I love! Let's Vibe! ā¤ļøā€šŸ”„šŸŒ
šŸ’ŽArticles & Videos I've recently found worthwhile 🧐
I'm going to post/paste articles here that I've recently found useful or interesting when I'm thinking about how to start a Vibe Code Venture. Feel free to post articles in a similar format - if you want your post to stay, you MUST share some insights or questions from the article. These can be from you about something in the article, or pasted quotes straight from the article. But don't just post a link or "this is cool" or something like that. Give us some HOOKS (that's a React reference).

The Primeagen on YC & Vibe Coding This is a video of ThePrimeagen (Michael Paulson) streamcasting over a video of some YC folks talking about how vibe coding is changing everything. This is a great analysis because it contrasts the VC mindset from the Engineer mindset. You can see how traditional programming skills are still valuable, but how the need to understand minutiae of syntax isn't what it used to be. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=riyh_CIshTs And if you really want to go in, here's Theo t3.gg - another devcaster I'm less familiar with, watching the above video and giving his thoughts. Recursion anyone? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b0fv54xGOwY

how to make doing hard things easier than scrolling youtube I found this one quite helpful. Staying locked in is a metaskill that is essential in this business. The way he broke down dopamine levels with the see-saw drawing really helped me. Also something about how he takes his time erasing the whiteboard is relaxing - I enjoyed this one. how to make doing hard things easier than scrolling youtube - Newell of Knowledge
šŸ‘‹ What's your Priority? šŸŽ©
Hello and welcome to Vibe Code Ventures - the community where we practice making cool stuff and money at the same time. šŸ’ø What's next for you in your growth journey? What do you want to learn or get better at? What skills will you prioritize in the next month or so to make your visions become reality?

For me the priority is keeping my head around the software I'm vibecoding, without letting it get too far ahead of me. So more diligence in checking commits, and understanding what it's doing. Sometimes I let it go a little wild and then I'm lost - a pretty common challenge I've heard from others. How can I take my time and stay involved with my codebase, and make sure it is the masterwork I want it to be?
