Winter Begins — The Calling & Conceiving
Welcome to Winter. Winter is the season of listening —not clarity, not certainty, but attention. Winter is where God often speaks most quietly. Not because He is distant, but because what He is beginning is tender. Like Mary, this season may feel: - unsettling - hidden - difficult to explain - easy to doubt And still — God is at work. You are not required to understand your calling here. You are only invited to receive it. There is no rush through Winter. You may linger. You may repeat a week. You may simply read and sit. Kindness toward yourself is part of the practice. --- “Blessed is she who has believed…” — Luke 1:45 --- A Blessing for Winter Blessed are you in the listening. Blessed are you in the dark soil. Blessed are you for believing before anything is visible. God is already at work.

I’m so glad you’re here. Take Winter slowly — return to any week as often as you need. There is no rush in this season.
A Gentle Spiritual Touchstone
This week, we pray Psalm 90:17 over our hands, our hearts, and our work. Here's the NIV: May the favor of the Lord our God rest on us; establish the work of our hands for us— yes, establish the work of our hands. If you feel led, share the women (no names please, only one initial for her name), babies, birth workers, and birth centers you are praying for this week.

For me: Mary Green is a Licensed Midwife and founder of Devoted: The Ministry of Childbirth, a faith-based ministry supporting those called to the work—and the healing—of birth. Her Breath Prayers series (available through Amazon and on the Midwife's Bookshelf here on Skool) offers simple, Spirit-led guides for mothers, fathers, and birth workers to find peace and restoration in God’s presence. Mary describes herself as a woman redeemed by grace—seen, saved, and sent. Like the Samaritan woman, she met Jesus and ran to tell others. Like the bleeding woman, she has reached for—and felt the comfort and release—of His healing. Like Mary Magdalene, she has been set free and called by name. And like Shiphrah and Puah, she has been entrusted with the holy work of birth. Through Devoted: Ministry of Childbirth, she serves as a midwife and mentor, helping others discern their call and find renewal in His presence. Mary and her husband, Chris, live in rural Washington State with their sheep, chickens, turkeys, a mischievous chocolate lab and a fluffball of a bernadoodle—grateful every day for the mercy that found her. She continues to serve families through Moonbelly Midwifery and the Lynden Birth Center.
