Send Us Your Questions
Hi Everyone Just a quick reminder that our next recorded Q&A session will be added to the Hub in a couple of days. We’ve already had a couple of questions come through, but if there’s anything you’d like us to cover, whether it’s around leadership, management, quality, compliance, workforce, business development or anything else across adult social care, please send it over. We’ll be more than happy to include it and offer any advice, guidance or thoughts we can. Care Leaders Hub

Daily Care Notes - Free Guide
Happy Monday, Care Leaders We’ve just added a new free guide to the Care Leaders Hub: Daily Care Notes – A Practical Guide for Care Staff This one has come from a really useful conversation in the community around helping carers complete clear, accurate and person-centred daily notes without unnecessary paperwork taking them away from the people they support. The guide includes practical tips on: - what good daily notes should include - recording facts rather than assumptions - capturing the person’s voice, choices and independence - recording changes, actions and outcomes - finding time to complete notes during a busy shift - refusals, consent and capacity - safeguarding and medication records - confidentiality and secure recording - examples of turning basic notes into more useful ones We’ve tried to keep it practical and easy to use, so it could work well for team discussions, supervision, induction or refresher training as well as something staff can refer back to. You’ll find it in the Free Guides section. As always, if there’s a particular challenge you’re dealing with in your service, feel free to share it here, it helps us make sure the resources we create are genuinely useful. Neil & Martin

New Free Guide: Practical On-Call Guide
We’ve just added a new Practical On-Call Guide to the Free Guides section. It covers the key areas managers should think about when setting up or reviewing on-call arrangements, including: - when staff should use on-call - making the number accessible - creating a sustainable rota - why staff may hesitate to call - inappropriate use of on-call - handover, recording and escalation - using on-call themes as a learning tool A simple but important area that can have a real impact on staff confidence, manager wellbeing and service safety. Available now in the Free Guides section.

Hi Kerry, Absolutely! If you head to the Classroom section, you’ll find our free resources under Free Learning Guides & Toolkits. We also have a separate Free Training & Leadership Discussion section with bite-size training and leadership content. We’re adding new resources regularly, so it’s worth checking back. And if there’s a particular topic or resource you’re looking for, just let us know, we’re always keen to hear what would be useful to members. Hope that helps! Neil & Martin
Hello
Hi everyone, I’m really pleased to be joining the group. I’ve recently joined a relatively new care provider as their Registerer Manager. The provider is part of an established franchise with many years of experience in the sector. Like many providers, we’re finding recruitment and retention challenging, particularly while we’re building up hours. Another area I’m working on is making sure carers have enough time to complete clear, accurate care notes that meet CQC requirements, without taking time away from the people we support. I’m looking forward to sharing experiences, learning from others and picking up practical ideas along the way.

Thanks for introducing yourself, Shereen, it’s great to have you with us. Recruitment and retention while building up hours is such a difficult balance, and I’m sure that will resonate with a lot of other providers too. Your point about care notes is also really timely. We’ve actually been working on a practical guide around daily care notes and record keeping, including ways carers can complete clear, accurate records without it unnecessarily eating into the time they have with the people they support. We’re planning to release that next week and make it available to our free members, so hopefully it will be useful. Please keep sharing the challenges you’re coming across as the service grows, it’s exactly the kind of real-world discussion we want the Hub to be built around. Neil & Martin
