1 contribution to Dad Business
The Hardest Part No One Warned Us About
Alright gents, real talk. Being a dad is one mission. Running a business is another. Doing both at the same time? That’s a whole different battlefield. What’s one thing about the dad + business combo that hit you harder than you expected? For me, it was trying to be fully present at home while still carrying all the weight of the business in my head. Some days it felt like I was stuck between two radios both calling for support at the same time. But I’m curious how it’s been for you guys: 👉 What’s the toughest part of balancing fatherhood and business that nobody warned you about? Drop yours below, big or small. Let’s compare notes, trade wisdom, and back each other up like a squad should.

one thing that i have learned is that taking a break from work is important for my own well being. so i take time with family as part of that break. same with watching tv or playing games, or even going for a walk. doing that i am not neglecting work, but i am collecting energy to work better. it doesn't always work, especially when money is tight and you feel you need to work harder to earn more money. that's really the most stressful. i don't know what to do about that, but once that bar is cleared because the business runs well enough, or your spouse provides additional income so you can handle it, or even just you still have some savings, then the rest is the mindset about you business. you don't need to be super successful in your business. just good enough to provide the things you want for yourself and your family. the thing about family time though is, for me at least, that it needs to be stress free. no quarrels with the kids or with my spouse. in order to avoid thinking about work it helps to do some activities that you need to focus on, like playing a board game or even computer games together. or if your kids are small, hold them while they take a nap. i have even done work on the computer with a baby in my arms. the baby won't mind.
