Noob Incoming :)
Dear All, my name is Mark, and I am a total Newbie here in the group (but not so much at doing ads). So I am looking forward to networking and learning with all. Who knows :) what we'll find out together, and I always love learning new things and getting better at our Art as a result. Thanks for letting me in -- glad to be here!

I saw I still owe you my answer to your question @Summer Giddens: off the top of my head, I'd recommend to not "let it run alone" but really put in a little time here and there in order to tweak settings, tidy up your keywords and negative keywords, plus watching/improving your optimization score (for G-Ads; add it to your Dashboard in the first place, it's not showing by default)! That way, you'll be able to improve results and lower cost over time -- usually within 20-odd days or a few weeks (for me, it was well worth that little extra effort).

done -- thanks @Ryan Baker
Google Ads will automatically pause low-activity keywords
For those of you who didn't see this email from Google: You are receiving this message because one or more of your Google Ads accounts may be impacted by an upcoming change to how we handle low-activity keywords. Whatโ€™s changing? Starting in June 2024, we will begin to automatically pause low-activity keywords. Positive keywords in search ads campaigns are considered low-activity if they were created over 13 months ago and have zero impressions over the past 13 months. Why are we making this change? We want to help advertisers simplify their accounts and focus on keywords that drive results. Next steps If you decide that a paused keyword is necessary for your campaign, you can unpause it. However, we strongly recommend that you only unpause keywords that you believe will receive impressions in the coming weeks. Unpaused keywords will be automatically paused again if they donโ€™t receive any impressions over the next 3 months. My thoughts: This seems pretty benign and is probably ACTUALLY about cutting back on their costs and server space. There are a lot of messy accounts out there and I only see this as helpful. No cause for concern unless they start moving up the timeline on those "low performers" and offering to improve accounts by controlling keywords in different ways.

they also sneak in all kinds of changes all the time; still need to get used to their "new layout" (running the old one so far, but they're now warning it'll "go away soon"). Anyway, just as you said @Ryan Baker, the low-activity keywords change might be okay as long as they don't tighten it over time!

-- which I suppose they might medium-term, just as they're constantly nagging with those ridiculously incompetent, bad, and altogether missing-the-point "auto-generated assets" and similarly useless stuff (even after being Dismissed a hundred times)! Ultimately, it mostly means, we'll have to click away even more annoyances all the time... Putting up with it as long as we're still making money with this stuff though :)
When you want to say something, but don't want to make a whole post...
Drop a comment in this post. We can just keep up a general discussion about anything without making it all "official".
