I started this piece last week then went on a little get away, but got home and instantly jumped back into it. Here is the finished piece. I am quite proud of how it turned out. I don’t often to colour so here is my swing at it!! Sadly the yellow tint won’t come out so I’m showing a picture of before I did the yellow. Thanks for checking it out!!! I used a 5rl, 7rs and a 7curved mag. I mixed all the colours on my own as I have a practice ink set and didn’t want to waste my good ink since they are smaller bottles of ink!

Preparing for night shift means lots of circles and lines to keep you awake. I got a new machine for my birthday (first pen machine) so I’m trying to find my groove with it. Lots more practice coming! Any tips with the stroke and speed of machine is greatly appreciated!

Ok guys I'm going to be jumping in with some Q&A's to help you guys with any challenges you're facing. @Anver De Kock sent a message mentioning a few things. So let's start with line weights/liner sizes. Having a variety of line weights in your art keeps it looking interesting & can make select areas look bolder & create depth, even in the outline stage. I started by picking pens with 3 line weights for drawing. (See the attached image for the set). I used a very fine line for details, a regular weight for almost all lines & then a thicker marker, or thin brush tip for heavier outlines, which i would always draw in last. As I started tattooing I found needle groupings to match the pens. Which became 3rl, 5rl & either 7rs or 9rs. Meaning I had the tools to create the same art tattooing, as on paper. So let's start with a quick question - What needles are you currently using in your setup & how are you finding them to work with?

I've had a busy, inspiring, and productive week. Last weekend I was at the Kamloops Tattoo Show. I got to meet lots of artists, talk tattooing for most of Sunday, meet a couple of local clients, and work on two fun Star Wars tattoos. That's always a win. I came back feeling inspired and, after a couple of relaxed days, got stuck back into some large-scale projects that I'm really enjoying. Good projects with good people.
