Client gone wrong
So here is the story about my client. I started this project on August 26th. She wanted the skeleton hand with a rose and lily so I spent from that date till September 16th drawing this. With minimal contact from my client. It took about 3-5 days for her to respond to any of my emails. Than she went ghost for about 9 days until the tattoo appointment day came up and she said she hadn’t forgotten about the appointment and couldn’t wait to come and get it done. She never ended up sending a down deposit and only paid half the tattoo price for now. We planned for her to be here at 8:00 pm after I had just worked a full 12 hour day shift at my full time job as a care aide in a psychiatric hospital ( so extremely busy day). She ended up being an hour and a half late, and then decided to inform me that she wanted something completely different from what I had drawn up. So we ended up doing the stars and moons as the final design. I started tattooing her around 12 last night. It was a 2.5 hour tattoo so it wasn’t horrible but I didn’t get to bed until 5 am this morning. But the final tattoo turned out great and it’s a beautiful piece. There is a lot I learned from this so thats a bonus, but for my first “real” client it was quite the experience lol. And I hope not every client is this much of a struggle…. I know it’ll get better but being an artist that is just starting out there’s not a lot of commitment from clients and sometimes they use us and think they can get away with things. I let this one slide but that will definitely be the first and last time i tattoo her. Thanks for looking and listening to my rant!! I hope you guys are having better experiences then this one went for me lol!!

Yep exactly, I got that bad experience right off the hop so now I’m prepared for anything. I’m just going to keep positive about it. Because after I posted that tattoo I had 5 people reply to it wanting a tattoo so even though it was a bad experience, it’s bringing me lots of positives!!

thank you for the call!! It was great to get to talk in person and to meet other people in the group. Have a good day today!!!
✨️ Quick reminders!!!
☎️ Our first live call is this Thursday!!! It's scheduled for 11am (PST). I'm hoping that in the calender section it shows in your timezone (can you check please!). I hope you can make it. If there's anything you'd like to talk about, have some questions ready. No pressure, I'm just really looking forward to getting to know you guys better while the group is still small! Also - I've added lessons to the Tattoo 101 course in the classroom section. If there's anything you guys would like included just let me know. And if you're on the call on Thursday, that would be a great time to talk about it! I'm always open to feedback as we keep adding to this community!!!

@Steve Kretz so I just finished the tattoo and am off to bed now, I got off of a day shift yesterday and then stayed up tattooing lol so I have an alarm set for the meet but I probably won’t stay the whole time because I need to sleep but I am looking forward to it!!!

Hey guys, I haven’t been active for a while and I wanted to share some of the things I’ve been up too. I’ve been super busy picking up a lot of extra shifts so haven’t had much time to myself unfortunately but I have some great news. I decided that when I am swapping to night shifts I’m going to start taking in some clients for some quick and easy tattoos. I have my first client booked for September 16th and I am so excited because it’s someone who isn’t just family/ friends. Since that’s all I’ve actually done so far. I’ll post the design I’ve created for her tattoo. I started this octopus tattoo ( I did it on fake skin first) and now have started it on my dad,, and so far I think it’s looking pretty wicked. This is my first big piece so we are taking it slow and it’s in a pretty tough spot so my dad wants to keep doing little sessions which I’m completely fine with. I will post when I finish my first appointment and when I finish the octopus tattoo. Thanks for looking. Any criticism is more than welcome!!!

For the octopus tattoo I’m thinking about going back in and darkening it more to make it more vibrant. I haven’t done much for colour tattoos but I didn’t want to damage the skin by going over it too much so decided to wait for the next session to add more. Then if I do that I can use a lighter shade of red to go over the open areas of bare skin so I don’t have any skin showing. Like you are saying in your comment. Thanks for the great advice. I’m trying something new so that helps a lot. For the other tattoo, the lady has now ghosted me so unfortunately I don’t think I’ll be tattooing her tomorrow night but thank goodness for my sister. She is going to come over and I’m going to add more to her sleeve. I will add the pic in!! So I’m still going to be getting practice in! I will post again when I do her tattoo

☎️ Live Calls??
I wondered if any of you would like to jump on a live call? I've really been holding back on this until we had enough members who seemed interested. I'd love to get to know you all better & give some more personal advise. It would also be great for you to meet each other, & we can run through some basic Q&A at the same time. I'd make this a regular feature if enough of you are interested. We can take into account all of our different tone zones & plan around that. Let me know - Would you join a Live call?

I could probably join for a bit, I would just be swapping to night shift so I most likely can make it work!!!
