I mapped all 37 tasks from PMI's CPMAI Exam Content Outline onto the six CPMAI phases, task by task. Three things came out of it. 1. Domain IV is not the modelling domain. T4 (manage data transformation) and T5 (verify data quality for go/no-go) are Phase III work. This is the most expensive trap on the exam. 2. Domain I is not a stage. It is a lens that runs across all six phases, and it is 15% of the exam. Compliance and audit trail never switch off. 3. Phases I and II carry 46% of the exam weight. Building the model carries 5%. That last one explains a lot of failures. Technically strong candidates over-prepare for the part that is worth 5%, and leave the phases that actually carry the weight untouched. The PDF below has the full matrix, the three go/no-go gates with the correct direction of return, and a four-step method for situational questions. Two pages. Save it. What to memorise: not the 37 tasks in order. Eleven items only, the 5 domain names with their weights and the 6 phase names in order. Then understand where each family of tasks sits.
