From Netherlands back to Greece
This is Dimitra (a name that means mother of earth), she has been one of my best friends since middle school. Last year, she moved to the Netherlands to start a new chapter with her other best friend from her university. She was working there, doing cross-pollinating plants in a greenhouse. She generally loves animals and plants. In Netherland, she loved the architecture and the fact that you can ride a bike everywhere you want without being scared of cars. There were some tough spots, however. The language seemed hard to learn, and sometimes the public means of transportation would be difficult to navigate. One also had to be focused not to spend much on some things there, as they can be a bit overpriced. She is really hardworking and took advantage of every opportunity that she had there, as she seemed very thankful for those! I'm really proud of her for that. What brought her back, however, were the language constraints and the fact that she could not see herself being there for decades to come. Did she miss the Greek sun? I bet. When you grow up in countries that are on the warmer side, you tend to choose those for multiple reasons. Her next goal might be Spain, and I hope we can fulfill this together at some point in the future, even as tourists. Did I mention in my previous posts that I haven't been abroad? It's still scary for me, but baby steps are the way to go.
