A grateful moment
Although it is hard bringing up children in a different culture with a different language, there are times when I am reminded of some of the more beautiful aspects of life here in Italy. This week, two incidents occurred which I wanted to share. Early this week, taking my 5 week old to do some grocery shopping meant that by the time I got to the checkout, someone was very cranky, hungry and crying a lot. Fortunately the lady behind me, who was on a crutch nonetheless, offered to help unpack my trolley then pack my shopping for me as I comforted my screaming baby. A few days later, and as I was waiting in line at the bakery section of the supermarket with my baby and numbered ticket, another lady spontaneously came up to me and exchanged her ticket for mine. It was the next number to be called. Would these acts have happened back in my hometown? I couldn’t guarantee it, but here in Italy there is something that surfaces when a baby is involved. Something deep within the Italian psyche that makes you feel like you really are part of a wider community.

When needs must
Returning to (limited) online work this week with baby. So far, ok…he’s happy to sleep on my lap. Just wondering when it’s all going to come crashing down! 😅😆🤞
When needs must
Not much of an original post, but...
I was wondering (for those with experience) what it was like giving birth overseas - highs, lows, cultural clashes, embarassing moments....

News update
Hi everyone! I’ve been absent for a little while because we have just welcomed the newest member to our family - Cesare. Although deep in the trenches of having a newborn and a toddler, I’m aiming to be back in full swing next week, so thanks for your patience 😁 In the meantime, have a great weekend!
